That went up to 51 million had to pay a former coach 11 million. I don't see how they can maintain an athletic department at all unless their football makes a profit or they have boosters willing to make up the deficit every year. Their women's basketball loses more than 6 million a season and men's probably doing a little better but probably not that much. Football and Conference TV money are the lifeline of college sports they don't seem to have either.UConn Ath Dept loses over $40 million per year currently, it’s a wasted trip.
Got your back Rooster…
Should UConn abandon big-time college football? The question is a complex one to answer
While they have a 40k stadium, and an announced average of 20k attendance, they average around 10k tickets scanned. Those numbers are 2019, pre Covid
IMO, UConn probably could've been in the ACC but there's some bad blood between them, the former Big East schools that are in the ACC and some of the original ACC schools.
