'24 SC WR Braylon Staley (Tennessee)

Staley had just 3 catches last night for 56 yards, but 2 of those were for TDs as Strom Thurmond easily handled Silver Bluff, 34-7. Receiving numbers after 9 games: 49 for 853 yards & 10 TDs.

South Carolina is trying to make up some major ground in the recruitment of WR Braylon Staley of Strom Thurmond. Staley, who is one of the state’s fastest players and a state champion in the triple jump, was getting little to no interest from the Gamecocks last summer when he committed to Tennessee.

That has since changed. Receivers coach Justin Stepp is now actively in pursuit and verified that interest with an offer earlier this month. It’s not an offer Staley has taken lightly according to his dad.

...Stepp is fighting an uphill battle right now trying to pull Staley from Rocky Top. There’s loyalty involved and the feeling of appreciation for the early interest and offer from Tennessee. “Everything has been all Tennessee,” Brian Staley said. “It’s just that they’ve been there for a while, they’ve been there for a long time. They’ve been talking for a very long time, probably since October of last year. They’ve been there for a while, and he’s built a relationship with the entire staff and everybody that’s there. When I see him now talking about Tennessee, he lights up. With Carolina coming in kind of late, I mean, it’s late, it is definitely late. Still trying to feel them out at the same time. It’s a work in progress.”
#STRecruiting: Did the #Gamecocks’ offer to Braylon Staley shake things up with his Tennessee commitment?

Honestly don't think that will be a problem with Matthews. He's a physical guy (and he wrecks shop on defense in HS as well).
I'm never a guy to really do this but Matthewe has the ability to be the best wr day one when he steps on the field..I know I get it he hasn't played a down of football yet all that bs.Just some kids have that fire that non stop will to get better. He's the kinda kid catch's 10 of 11 passes and 3tds but doesn't care and is pissed off over the one he missed.

Go do some research on the kid and his work ethic and dedication to his craft.Hell I'll call my shot now and if he stays healthy he will be one of the best to ever represent the Vols I think he could be that good..Thats jmo ocourse but a lot more goes into playing this game then catching and running an fast 40 time and kids got it all in spades...It won't take long if Coach Hype allows the freshman time to shine before Braley and Matthews are at the top of the depth chart...

South Caroline waving the white flag on Staley.

“We haven’t had anything here lately (from Stepp), just probably a few texts wishing him good luck the rest of the season,” Brian Staley said. “He did express a couple of times that they have about four games left in the season. We haven’t discussed anything as far as going to a game yet. Braylon has really been adamant about Tennessee as far as the relationship and everything they’ve got coming on so far.”

But they are about to play in their 4th Super Bowl! Can't believe Staley wouldn't want to check it out.
“Be a part of ******* history! Gonna eat that mayo?”

I don't blame Brian here...
I wouldn't let my son play for a blatant cheater either.
Shane Beamer, and Jim Harbaugh can kiss my a**
