Scariest Movies

Freakiest movie I've seen lately would have to go to Paranormal Activity. Back in the day for when I was younger:

Puppet Master
Child's Play (never played with "My Buddy" ever again)
Pet Sematary

I hate scary movies because usually they suck, and if they are good it means I am spooked. Seems like a lose/lose. The only movie in my adult life that legitimately scared me was The Ring.

Ju-on was scary as **** to me, I think the Grudge was a remake of it, but the original was better imo

I second this one. My wife makes fun of me for it, but that movie terrified me. Saw it in a nearly-empty theater by myself. That didn't help.

Also (and I know I'll take grief for this): Blair Witch Project. If you've ever been back-country camping, that movie will scare you.

Paranormal activity was pretty freaky. Not exactly scary but the kind of stuff that would make ur skin crawl.

The Shining is still one of the greatest horror flicks ever made. Same goes for Jaws.

Ju-On is much better than its American remake (The Grudge). Right now the Japanese horror writers and directors are schooling their American counterparts.

Unfortunately scary movies are quite often terrible...The Strangers was about as good as I'veseen in a long time

Jaws always got me because, outside of a little hyperbole, the premise is just too real. Jump in the ocean and you're part of the food chain. Was swimming once about 40 yards offshore when a fin went by not 15' from me. Little known fact; you can tread water with your pubes if your scared enough and don't want to move. Turned out to be dolphins.

Arachnophobia and The Ring.

Not a quote-unquote scary movie but one of the most disturbing movies I have ever seen was The Deer Hunter.

The Evil Dead is hilarious.

If I had to go with a Scary Movie I'd probably go with The Little Mermaid.

I really could go on for days...

Event horizon was great...rekindled my faith that good horror movies can still be made.

Just about anything done by tikashi miike (Japanese) is good.

Halloween 1 and 2 (hospitals freak me out) and it's awesome knowing that the movie is based on the town I live in.

The original Texas chainsaw massacre

The Blair witch project (not so much now cause I know it's not real, but when it came out it was hard to verify if it was real so that uncertainty made it terrifying. Brilliant movie. Pretty much paved way for all of the "fake film footage true story" movie)

That being said, also vote on paranormal activity. The ghost believer in me was pretty scared. I found myself completely oblivious to anything around me while watching it cause it pulled me in so well.

The strangers was great

The exorcist

Shining

Hellraiser 1 and 2

Funny games (the original version)

I grew up in the 80s and 90s so pretty much any classic slasher is good in my opinion, and im not easily impressed at all anymore so kudos to the newer movies that I mentioned. I really do feel like I lived in the best era of horror films.
