Great: Texas over ASU
Not so great: BC over Mich State
We need a Kansas to get blown out of the top 10!

Projected Final Rankings if things go UT’s way (see above)
1. LSU
2. Oklahoma
3. Virginia Tech
4. Georgia
5. USC
6. Ohio State
7. Florida
8. Missouri
9. BC
10. Tennessee

Mizzou should be out of the top 10 if they lose to a McFadden less Arky team.

That will not happen though...

That's a tough game for this scenario.

My hope there is that Mizzou shows up flat as opposed to showing up pi$$ed about being left out of the BCS. How Arky gets up... I just don't know. If they could play inspired football, it would help.

How inspired they will be without their longtime head coach will be interesting to see.

Agree. I hope it doesn't get ugly in favor of Mizzou, but even if it does, it would only move them up the top 10 list. I already have them above us. If somehow Arky could pull off the unexpected, it could knock them out of the top 10--and how hard would it be to rank us above them since we handled Arky with McF.

The SEC is looking pretty good in the early bowl games. The next one that matters most for the Vols... Go Auburn!

Here's a shot at exactly how Tennessee could finish in the Top 10 this year!

:)Pacific Life Holiday
#11 Arizona State vs. #19 Texas San Diego Dec. 27, 8:00PM ESPN
Texas won over ASU to keep ASU out of the final top 10

:cray:Champs Sports
#14 Boston College vs. Michigan State Orlando, Fla. Dec. 28, 5 p.m. ESPN HD
Michigan State victory would keep BC out of the top 10. Didn't happen add BC to revised top 10 list.

:)Chick-fil-A
#15 Clemson vs. Auburn Atlanta Dec. 31, 7:30 p.m. ESPN HD
Auburn needs to upset Clemson.

#18 Wisconsin vs. #16 Tennessee Tampa, Fla. Jan. 1, 2008, 11 a.m. ESPN HD
Obviously, UT needs to win impressively!

AT&T Cotton
#6 Missouri vs. Arkansas Dallas Jan. 1, 2008, 11:30 a.m. FOX
An Arkansas upset of Missouri would strengthen voters’ views of the SEC, but may not be enough to knock Missouri out of the top 10.
Didn't happen, but just moves Mizz higher as they were already ranked in projected top 10 list.

Capital One
Michigan vs. #12 Florida Orlando, Fla. Jan. 1, 2008, 1 p.m. ABC HD
Toss up. Technically, a Michigan win could be in the Vols’ best interest to get into the top 10. If the Gators win it would help bolster a dominant SEC conference claim and allow 4 SEC teams to be in the tinal top 10. UT would be the 4th while the Gators would higher.

Ooing. Either way this one goes, we can still finish in the top 10. If the Gators lose our chances may even be better.

WOULD any of these remaining games really be unexpected? I don't think so.
Rose Bowl presented by Citi
# 7 USC vs #13 Illinois Pasadena, Calif. Jan. 1, 2008, 4:30 p.m. ABC HD
Trojan victory keeps Illinois out of the top 10.

Allstate Sugar
#10 Hawaii vs. #5 Georgia New Orleans Jan. 1, 2008, 8:30 p.m. FOX
A UGA blowout would show Hawaii W/L record is a fluke knocking them out of the top 10.

Tostitos Fiesta
#4 Oklahoma vs. # 9 West Virginia Glendale, Ariz. Jan. 2, 2008, 8 p.m. FOX
A Sooner victory knocks West Virginia out of the top 10.

FedEx Orange
#3 Virginia Tech vs. #8 Kansas Miami Jan. 3, 2008, 8 p.m. FOX
A major blowout of Kansas by Virginia Tech would knock Kansas out of the top 10.

Allstate BCS Championship Game
#2 LSU vs. #1 Ohio State New Orleans Jan. 7, 2008, 8 p.m. FOX
This one may be somewhat irrelevant to UT’s final ranking. Even if LSU beats tOSU as badly as Florida did in last year's NC, tOSU will still be ranked higher than UT. It’s more about popularity for them. LSU will also be ranked higher than UT whether they win or lose. They beat us. However, an LSU blowout of tOSU would help bolster the ‘dominant conference’ claim needed to get 4 SEC teams in the top 10.

Projected Final Rankings if things go UT’s way (see above)
1. LSU
2. Oklahoma
3. Virginia Tech
4. Georgia
5. USC
6. Ohio State
7. Florida
8. Missouri (will rank higher than 6th now)
9. BC (replaces Kansas in original)
10. Tennessee

I didn't see a little red comment about whether we won the Outback impressively, as prescribed.

The Gators just made it more impressive with their loss to the Big 10. Big 10 voters will show more respect to the Big 10 PROVEN Volunteers!!!!

This is some of the best New Years Day Kool Aid I can ever remember!

the corollary being that the sorry outfit that just lost to Michigan beat the living hell out of us.

Since we played, if you haven't noticed, four teams figured out how to stop the spread. They are a sorry outfit... I'll give you that.

I totally see all the rest happening...if that puts us in the top ten with the win today is another question...we beat a full strength Wisconsin team without some of our best players and we didn't even play our best game...I think we will get some respect...so I give us a good shot to end up 10!

Why is Tim Tebow even relevant? We don't play Florida again this season. You're a Gator-loving kind of fan, IMO. He could always break his arm or something stupid like that--as anyone else who doesn't use a spread run formation (e.g. our QB is our fullback stupidity).

I hate the Gators as mush as anyone here...

See... I didn't give this topic any serious thought because we have a snowballs chance in Hades of finishing in the top 10...

So what I did was...I took about 10 seconds to think of the most ridiculous scenario I could and I wrote it out...

It was my attempt at sarcasm...not Gator lovin propaganda
