No doubt that is a true statement. I'm sure we'll find out before long. He will evaluate the Banks' situation before he soured and so forth. If you don't win the QB job and stay, you will have to consider other positions, and keep yourslef on track to get playing time there too. Basically, BS will have to evaluate EA postion as the probable starter, and RC as a prossible backup, plus the ability of Crompton to develop fast when he comes in. If he truly feels over his stay here that his QB play will be limited and that it will hurt his drafting in the NFL as a QB, then we will see him leave. If he evaluates himself and dtermines his best shot at the NFL is at another skill position, then we will probably see him stay. In which case we benefit because you'll have him making plays anywhere you put him. And if you have another freak year of QB injuries, he's there to pick it up. Realistically RC is only in the picture for solid playing time till the others prove there development and that won't take long. He will happily resume his role of working with the younger QB's and his development into coaching material as he got playing time to prove his abilities in game situations.

Here is what I like about Schaeffer this year. He took some pressure off of Ainge and vice versa. When Ainge was having a tough game playing USC, Schaeffer came in and sparked some life. Then Ainge settled down and played well. I think that Ainge and Schaeffer have a healthy respect for one another a lot like Greene and Schockley have had for UGA. It was a lot of pressure for either freshman to come in and play TENNESSEE football right off of the bat. There is no doubt in my mind, them sharing the position allowed us to excel. I know that probably won't be the case next year, but I will interested to see how they both look after training hard and learning the total offense.

Nice piece you wrote TNVOLS1. You explained simply and frankly why I think Schaeffer must play a different position. Good commentary.

Did Al Wilson throw those long passes to Price. Peyton had way more talent on the 97 team. He just was so scared of Spurrier and choked like a dog. Then get wacked by Nebraska. So If Peyton brought the talent there, Why couldn't he do with with almost the same talent.? I call it the Spurrier Effect. So get a life and i don't have anything else to say.

Volman1970, ever heard of jealously? So many players on the 97' team were jealous of Peyton and the 98' team was just the opposite. I stood in the locker room in both years and the jealously factor there was huge. You have had the Schaeffer factor explained to you from several people and fail to accept it. Move on and pull for Clausen,Ainge and Crompton. That will be the order, mark my word. You may be the only person in the VN bad mouth Peyton Manning. Does he own one bad quality? Look in the mirror.

. . . i don't have anything else to say.

Thank goodness . . . that was rough reading.

We were better in '98 for one reason - defense.

p.s. Volman1970, in the Nebraska game Peyton was so injured he shouldn't of played. Fulmer has said over and over he should of played Tee Martin. He got hurt in the SEC Championship game against Auburn. Get off the best QB in our history, the SEC history, and maybe ever. He just burst the NFL all time QB rating for a season by NINE points.

You guys are hilarious, and relentless. I was a newbie once to this board. Thank god I didn't shoot off at the hip on my first day on this board. Ya'll ride a donkey hard once in a while, but jeez, it's just opinions and entertainment.
