Schiano Is Garbage

I've never seen any evidence linking Haslam to that hire, not saying you're wrong, but I would to see it.

Connect the dots. The Haslam’s hired Currie in the back door as Blackburn and maybe Fulmer and maybe someone else were being reported as candidates. This became pretty common knowledge- Currie was being directed by them. Then, the connection to Schiano and Ohio State was Jimmy owning the Browns along with a high level executive at Pilot Flying J being a huge booster and donating tons of money to Ohio State.

But it was Haslam. He had previously looked at hiring Schiano for Cleveland. And they are still very much calling the shots, they just lucked out with hiring Danny White, who lucked out on hiring Heupel. Heupel wasn’t on any short list of coaches. They ran out of options.

I don’t think the Haslam’s had nearly as much input hiring Danny White. But that’s just my opinion.

It’s not.

Ryan Day took up for his player after a cheap shot out of bounds.

Schiano was butt hurt over getting mud stomped.

Anyone justifying a cheap shot out of bounds is no less classless than either coach in this situation.

I’m not a Schiano fan at all, but you open your punter up for a cheap shot when you fake it up 39 points. The hit also really wasn’t that bad as the Rutgers player braces himself to “take the hit” instead of forcibly leveling the hit. Two guys running directly at each other. No sympathy for either.

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make here. The Rutgers player is a punk for his reaction and he got tossed for it. Probably should have got a targeting call too and got suspended for the 1st half of his next game.
he is, and prolly should but my point is that when you are getting the crap kicked out of you and the punter makes that decision he should of had his head on a swivel. I can't stand Ohio St or Schiano . It was his chance and he took it out on the punter . Don't follow Ohio State but if the kid was right footed it was a no problem punt, if he was left footed he better learn to get down or OB sooner. Everybody is coached to execute their duties but not the circumstances that may occur. Football is an emotional game that causes players to "get even" especially when you are getting hammered.

I think Schiano would have curb stomped Ryan Day. Would have been fun to watch. Another good match would be Bruce Pearl vs. Ed Orgeron. I would bet on Ed to win that one.

Saban vs Kiffin 😂😂

Lane may have 30 years and size on his side, but it would be hard for him to overcome the absolute hatred Saban has for him.

Not a fan of either coach but I don't have a issue with what Schiano did here....he went to check/protect a player. No issue here as far as I'm concerned.

Haslam blew up the Browns front office bc of the way Schiano was done during their interview of him. Belichek and Meyer both stamped their approval on Schiano, Banner basically didn’t want him Haslam did. Banner made it apparent in the interview that he didn’t want him. Those are some of the ties to Schiano. Meyer also was talked to after Butch was fired and again recommended Schiano. After Mullen fell through that’s where they went. You definitely can find the info easily about the Browns deal going south.

Now let me see if I read this **** right. You are saying Tennessee asked Urban Meyer for a recommendation?

Not trying to defend Fulmer but its not like he had a ton of options. At the time very few of us were balking at the Pruitt hire. The Alabama/Saban connection was just too alluring.

The only reason Fulmer did not have a "ton" of options was because of the clown show that year. That hire, and the next one played out like a very bad soap opera. Only guys who might take it would be hoping for a decent buyout. And now? Even that is not certain.

Well would we want a coach that anything like this in their history. There are more coaches to choose from. We shouldn’t have to read court documents about sexual assault to children to see how involved he was. It’s radioactive. There are other coaches, period.

Now that I agree with. But the fact these accusations were being thrown here around 24 hours before it broke Schiano was being offered? Yes, I said before. I am still getting my head around that

Even if you looked past the child rape, the nfl players hating him, him trying to end manning’s career on a cheap shot, his general A Hole nature and the fact he’s a liar, he’s still a below average coach living off one lucky season against a pillow soft schedule 20 years ago.
he’s like Leach or Ferentz only not as winning
Nowhere near the coach Leach or Ferentz are. Not even close.

It's all read between the lines stuff.

Haslam interviewed and really wanted to hire Schiano in Cleveland. Haslam's front office guy in Cleveland, Joe Banner, didn't like Schiano. They ended up not hiring him, but it created a huge rift between Banner and Haslam and eventually led to Banner's own firing. Then, a few years later at Tennessee, Schiano comes out of nowhere and gets the Tennessee job. It's interesting.

He supposedly said this during his "interview". Obviously, he was just playing UT for publicity.
I remember the story about UT interviewing Muschamp. Muschamp was the hot name in the coaching carousel for a couple of cycles when he was DC at Texas, "Head Coach in Waiting". Remember that cool title he and Jimbo carried in those days?
The point is, supposedly, Muschamp was the one who suggested Derek Dooley. Anything a coach recommends, when he has no serious intention of taking your job offer, is garbage. The scary thing, as a UT fan, is it seemed the AD took action on the recommendations both times.

I don't know if the Urban Meyer story is true, because the Schiano story has insider aspects with the Haslams being interested in an NFL guy for the UT job. But I do understand the Muschamp story is true.

Well, maybe part of this is looking at what Meyer has done since then. But even more of this is looking at Ohio State, or anyone in the B10.

But I was sitting right where I am right now the night it came over ESPN's hot wire that Currie was in Columbus interviewing and negoiatiing with Schiano. And just over 48 hours before? Nobody had brought up him as even a possiblity.

But in that last 24 to 48 hours? One jughead on this site started a thread touting him. And several of the more active members started bringing up the Sandusky link. This was whle Currie was out of the country with the basketball team, and he flew from there straight to Columbus. So this all started being make public (if you consider VolNation and 24/7 a "public" domain)

And the fact that Fulmer was in a specially created position at the university makes me doubt he had no knowledge of what Currie was doing.
