Science and Religion: Creationism/Evolution Thread

Good grief no, it is a battle christians should not focus on as a front line issue. In short, christians have become super lazy and want the gov't to do their job for them.

I have to admit that when I attempted to do algebra all I saw were letters mashed together.

It got worse when the teacher told us we could use it on the practical level of doing groceries.

Sounds like you quit just when it started to get fun. Differential Equations and Fourier Analysis are a hoot.

It's all lies and indoctrination. Teach me to read and give me a Bible. Everything I ever wanted to know about the universe is solved after that.

What's funny, is that most people who have faith are MUCH happier than those that don't. I know I am happier than those around me that don't believe.

OK. Let's pretend that biology and creationism are somehow equally practical things to know.

Give me a creation quiz. Let's see how I do.

Nah, you'll just argue and use big words to try and make yourself look smarter than the majority in this thread.

I made it all the way up through calculus till i got to the point of 3-d equations and graphs based off radians and such :)

Well, to begin with, that was an entirely speculative response. You cannot say who you are happier than, or what the causes are. Let's not be silly.

Second, how happy it makes you has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH ITS TRUTH!!! Maybe the bold will help that sink in. Astrologists are probably happier than astronomers. Does anybody use this as meaning anything whatsoever? Nope.

Now, evolutionary theory is progressive - we can move with it. It is also testable, falsifiable, and...well...you know, science! Might help give some motivation for putting it in a science class.

I always got the answer right, I would get dinged for not using the correct process.

It is kinda like looking at photo copied maps. Usually the land area is darker and the water is white. When I looked at it I saw it as the darker being the water and the light being land.

If people would have only helped me when I was younger..... I probably would have enjoyed school a lot more.

You get the award for making the most outrageous blanket statement in this thread.

You can go ahead and put me, my wife, and most my family in the perfectly happy and content group.

"Why are there two different Creation accounts in Genesis chapters 1-2?"

One explains the origins of creation, the other is an account of why man is different from both animals and God.

You may have another explanation, but this one is as good as any to a loaded question.

Honestly man, your trying to convert people. Your no better than a Muslim with a sword from what I have seen from you in this thread. Have fun in ignoreland, it's not as crowded as if used to be, but ksush will love you.

Copout. If you think your view is scientifically adequate and/or better, propound a little on your beliefs. If it is just faith, admit it and leave science classes to science. I have no problem with you admitting it isn't rationally based at all. But, as I said, if it is...participate. You wouldn't take so kindly to us evading all posed questions.

Hey, I don't disagree with the gun part. :)

lol, nah i was just referencing something i saw online with a really redneck character who has like 2 lines before getting killed off; and they were:

(thinks in head: boy, better think of something clever to say...)
"Hey you!"
(back in head: genius farmer, genius)

and before he died

"Protect me gun!"

:)

"How can the light of stars billions of light years away from the earth have reached us if the earth is only thousands of years old?"

:good!:

I'm sure getting coaked up and fornicating all over town would make me feel good, but I doubt I would be legitimately happy...or that it would even be good for me.

I'm going by my own real world experiences, and not trying to act like I know some scientist who I know nothing about is living their life. Nice try though.

Anytime they show him he seems pretty excited about his work or what he's discovered or theorized...so i'd say it's not a reach to say he's happy (well probably the only thing he's unhappy about's what's happened to his body)

Bill gates seems pretty happy too
