To all the people who ask the question, and get answers from people who probably didn't watch the RTL or attended the Lebron camp.

His ball handling has IMPROVED ALOT. He really is going to have a huge year on offense, the only question I have with him is his defense. Which he didn't show much of in the LBJ camp.

Edit: Note...I wasnt at the LBJ camp, my buddy was. Take it for what it's worth, you will see come the season.

Still not impressed that a freshman in Jordan McRae lit him up. That would be awesome to thing Jordan was that electric but unlikely. I hope good things for Scotty but will reserve judgement for my own eyes.

So he can bring it up the court now without dribbling off his foot? Awesome!

Sorry. I am not buying. Hopson has fallen
short of every expectation as far as I am
concerned.

He was like the second leading scorer on Tennessee's best team ever and was only a sophomore.

I don't understand the knock against the guy. Sure, he isn't breaking out like the five stars on Kentucky. He is also playing in a 10 man rotation and playing a different style of basketball.

Aside from being drafted and making the team look more desirable, who cares if he is a team player and not a superstar. Not like Kentucky's NBA roster made it any farther in the tourney.

If you want to talk about not living up to expectations, 2008-2009 season. That would be Smith, Chism, Prince and Maze as juniors finishing with Tennessee's worst record under Pearl. They also got knocked out in the first round. Florida and North Carolina were winning championships with juniors. I definitely have more leeway for a freshman/sophomore.

I think Hopson will have a good year and become a leader. This team has the potential and depth to be as good as last years team

There were some high words of praise coming out about him from the Lebron camp...I posted a thread about it yesterday.

I think it all revolves around his confidence in game time situations and making the most of every posession. The best thing he has going for him/us this season is that we don't have many other proven scorers. He doesn't have to worry about feeding to Chism or not getting a look from Maze. He will be the top guy to go to. Of course, Tatum, Harris, Goins, and Williams will be contributers, but hopefully he will put it on his shoulders to score more often. I think he will have GREAT season.

Is that you Cody?

It's his brother, reporting from the mean, gang riddled streets of Nashville from his magic phone. Cody is the source with bosgap as the editor (and security), therefore this must be a tryout for the Sports Animal.

He's given off a perennial vibe as being soft.

Reports from the prior two years indicate he is lazy and thinks his $&!^ don't stink.

Those are my two reasons.

Bosgap has marbles that could work for the Animal.

Last year started off as Tyler Smith's team and turned into who most already considered to be Wayne Chism's team. Hopefully we will have a true leader. Who's team is it this year?

Honestly for me it is his demeanor. He lacks the killer instinct. I don't know much about his work ethic, but I hear that he works hard.

To me he doesn't have the focus of an elite player. He has moments and that's what everyone hangs on, but he is far from complete. And this is all just my opinion.

I can agree to disagree.

This was an amazing thing to see on ESPN, in the article about the Lebron James Camp,

"Scotty Hopson, Tennessee: Hopson was the best athlete and the most fluid player at the camp. In transition and off the bounce, Hopson made a bunch of highlight reel plays. But he can fool you if you are not watching closely. Hopson can be much better than he is right now, which is what you would expect of a junior that is still developing on a normal track toward being a really good player. Hopson still needs to influence the game on both ends and needs to concentrate harder on playing every play. He has it in him."

How awesome is that?

Completely laughable. You obviously have taken one erronious report, or the couple of reports that support your theory. Ask Bruce Pearl is he is lazy and full of himself. People who are full of themselves don't play as timidly as Hopson does. I will agree that thusfar, he has lacked the killer instinct and that is a valid complaint, but the rest of your rant is way off-base. He is an extremely hard worker, and in light of the recent off-field/court events, he is a great person. You either have been given bad info, or you have an obvious agenda because he hasn't developed into the hall-of-famer that you wanted him to become.

So? It wouldn't be bad if Scotty was overhyped, but still hustling playing D, and being tough. That's not the case with him.

You are right. It takes a source to see that he is lazy on D, plays soft, and doesn't hustle when things don't go his way.

Not awesome. It's the same thing we've been seeing for two years.
