Scotty Hopson

Pearl said after the game that we were in for a AWESOME prospect and is doing his best to secure him.

Not surprising, just thought it was funny he would say that out of the blue. I think he's really ecxited about the possibility of landing Hopson.

Got this off a MS State board a few min ago, don't know if it's been posted here yet though.

"I was just pushing and pushing in the season to get my team's win to secure my opportunity to be here." Scotty Hopson pushed hard enough to earn McDonald's status now he's one of only two uncommitted players at the game. Here's what he says about his recruitment.

Is It Weird Being One of The Only Un-Committed Guys?
It's cool. I'm just doing my thing. I'm taking my time with it. I'm not worried about recruiting; I just want to have fun and play basketball.

How Far Along In The Process Are You?

I guess I'm pretty far a long. I think about it when I'm off the court, maybe taking a shower but for the most part I go along with my day.

What Gets You Excited About The Decision?

I'm just out here loving it. I can't be down. I'm at a peak right now and it feels so good that I'm here with these players and I'm showing off my talent.

What' Your Main List Now?

Mississippi State of course. Tennessee, Texas a little bit. A little on Kentucky. Louisville is in the mix.

In Your Mind What More Do You Need To Know?

It's just about feeling comfortable in the situation, that's why I need to take some more visits. I haven't really visited a lot of the places to know if I'm going to be comfortable there or not. The only place I visited (officially) was Mississippi State;

I went to Tennessee like a year ago but I haven't seen any of the facilities.

Do You Have Any Visits Scheduled & If So When?

I don't have any of them scheduled but I plan on taking some though. Probably most likely Tennessee, probably Louisville and probably Kentucky. I guess Texas.

What You Are Saying Is You Need To See More?

I still have Mississippi State big on the list but its about me choosing the best for me. I want to make sure if I do go to Mississippi State or Tennessee, any of them places, it's going to suit me for the best. I want to make sure I'm making the best decision.

Without Saying Who Leads, Is There a School That Has Done The Best Job?

Mississippi State. Tennessee is doing a real good job.

Sometimes Schools Send 3 Coaches, When You See That What Do You Think?

I guess it's a commitment to let them know how much they really want me. I guess they think that's what they need to get the job done and that's what they do.

Mississippi State has numerous times. Tennessee has and Louisville has. Both Pitino and another assistant came to my game. I think Kentucky has too.

There's A Perception That Miss. St. & Tennessee are the teams to beat. Is That Accurate?

Nah, it's pretty much about equal right now.

I personally think hopson has verbally committed to the coaches. I don't think he's going to come out personally and say that though, to avoid heat from the Kentucky faithful. And he will take a few more visits just to make sure he has made the right decision.

and I got on my knees and drooled and goobered on Hopson's pants and shoes and then he kicked me in my BIG shnoss and said, "I'm All Vol!":drool::worship::worship::drool::frown::eek:

Theres an article on scout that has a picture of Scotty and says something about recruits. Anyone have a membership to fill us in?

You would think the recruiting coordinator would know his own title. There is nothing sadder than a troll who doesn't do his homework.

Hey ya'll, State fan here, boo and hiss if you'd like. I do believe hopson will choose between UT and State. He's probably leaning towards UT because of up and down offense. He's a great athlete, but was I the only one watching that McDonalds game the other night? Great defense? Watch number 31 when he's in there and tell me how many times he is the last player crossing half court after his team missed/made a bucket. I understand he was frustrated with not getting the ball, but this has been the criticism on hopson, and with everyone watching you would have thought he would play with 110% effort all the time.

It was an all star game. No one was playing good defense. The practice sessions were the competitive part.

And yes, he gets frustrated at times, but how many college coaches in America do you know that is going to let him get away with that? None, he will get chewed out from day one.

He will be a good college player.

Defense assessment... in an all star game?? No way you could make one. Nobody plays serious defense full time in an all star game..

Don't get me wrong, State wants him as bad as UT does, he's an amazing basketball player. I agree that defense is not played during all star games, he just wasn't making an effort to get back to play defense, again watch the tapes. He is an amazing athlete, and will be a better ball player than the kids who were starting in the all star game. Like you said Dylan, a good coach will push him to be a great defender, cause you can't teach someone how to jump out of the gym!

Is there any Scout members on here that can tell us what the UT scout page says about how there are bright prospects ahead and a picture of Scotty?
