I told someone before the game today, if Scotty Hopson would average 20-25 points in the next couple of games Tennessee would win the National Championship.

Yeah we probably would have. And if ifs and buts were candy and nuts we would all have a merry christmas.

I agree, Scotty has the ability to do that, but for some reason he just does not get it and I don't know if he ever will. He will be one of the main playmakers next year and alot of the success of the team will be on him.

Why did it seem like Scotty couldn't miss against the lower ranked teams but then once we went to the peach jam or Caribbean ( I don't remember the tournament) he started playing against good competition and started to miss more and more? He dominates bad teams and plays ok sometimes against good teams I just don't get it.

I am hoping and praying that our incoming freshmen will be the playmakers. Scotty is a role player, nothing more, nothing less.

Good players step up in big games and rise to the level of competition. So put 2 and 2 together and you SHOULD now get it.

The kids pretty sharp if I say so myself. Respect your father jtyler, it will serve you well. You sound like you've got a good head on your shoulders, keep it up. Best advice I can give you is to try and understand that the consequences of your actions are real and you must live them. Good choices will render joy and great memories. Bad choices render hurt and missed chances. You will make mistakes, its inevitable, learn what you've done wrong, see what it got you, and act accordingly the next time. Good luck to you, and remember your only 13, enjoy it, embrace it.

Mr. Hopson, and Coach Pearl, are doing the appropriate things. Mr. Hopson seeks reality, Coach Pearl is bridging it for him, the NBA will do the rest.

It will be up to Mr. Hopson to understand that his NBA aspirations are in his hands...as small as they appear to be at this time.

I think Hopson's problem is that he doesn't play with heart a lot of the time. It is what it is. Whenever he does something he looks around like who saw me do that. He needs to play and play to win every game.

I think Scotty would be awesome in the WNBA.

Get off his back. The expectations and criticism that Scotty deals with would crush 90% of people on here. Just make sure you're on your job for the next 8 months because Scotty definitely will be on his job.

The only reason I say negative things about Hopson is because I think he can be a great player but his attitude and effort is nothing short of terrible.

Maybe Hopson is ready for the NBA Live Pro level on the Xbox. Seriously, this kid couldn't play in Turkey right now much less the NBA.

Insanity. The draftexpress dude just tweeted that Scotty would be between 25-45 when he gets his evaluation back.

Thread cleaned up. I'm not trying to discourage conversation... but we have an entire forum for things not related to UT sports... it's called The Pub.

Total mystery. My guess is Bruce recognized he is a 3/4 year player when he arrived last year and decided not to break him by pressuring his learning curve. No other reason I can think of for his slower than expected progress, but I do see progress at least defensively. I agree sending in the papers will give him a bearing of how far off he is from being a first rounder. Hopefully he will play a larger role and Bruce will expect more from him next season. 4 and done is fine with me.
