SCOTUS approval at an all time low

I dont know about that. The Fed Govt is targeting border States to bear an uneven burden of open borders. At the end of the day, Texas is a sovereign State and has a right to defend its borders and its people.

What open borders? It's so hard to take anybody seriously in this conversation who says we have open borders. We haven't had open borders in my lifetime. That's not the problem. The problem is the government sucks at maintaining a closed border.

Accepting this semantic distinction is important because now you can better wrap your mind around the problem. It's not failure to act. It's just failure. And as somebody who thinks the government generally fails, this totally changes the discussion and the solutions we should pursue. Why is the government failing? Will it always fail if we pursue our current policies and objectives (talking each side of the aisle)? Do the R's and D's even want to fix the problem? Etc. This isn't a fight about open borders. It's a fight about fixing a closed border that's totally broken.

And it is going to stay this way because both parties see it as a winning issue with their base. Sucks for the rest of us.

TX should have used that as an argument. But it's not an invasion and TX isn't in imminent danger.

Look if you believe in states rights you have to support the separation of powers laid out in the constitution. And yes I recognize that the courts have been far from consistent on this issue but at least SCOTUS is getting better.
Abbott has used that argument.

As a Texas resident I see daily the issue on the news. And it’s a huge issue. But honestly I think the power does reside with the Feds on administering the border. I don’t like the job they’re doing or not doing. But I think it’s their responsibility.

But putting Texas LEOs in conflict with Fed DHS agents and other LEOs just further escalates the issue and quite frankly is expensive. Honestly I think the cheapest option is just loading them up on busses right after they clear DHS and bussing them outside of Texas to the declared sanctuary states and deconflicts the various LEO groups in contention.

Now if puddinhead tries to sic his lapdog Garland onto Abbott over that he can piss off as I do believe Abbott has the power to send them anywhere in the US they want to go as long as it’s of their own free will. Which from what I understand they get from the immigrants in writing.

the sanctuary cities should not get to impose their receiving notices either.

However you want to state it semantically, to make it make sense to you, the end result is open borders.

It is the Feds responsibility to enforce and one they are willfully not enforcing, making 4 border States vulnerable. If the Feds arent going to enforce the border, then Texas has every right to do so

Also, shipping tens of thousands of illegals all over the lower 48 is ludicrous and only making the problem worse. Ship them back into Central and South America.

It would seem that way listening to talking heads on either side of the aisle. Have you been to a border town? If you have you know they're not really "open". Far too jammed up for that to be the case

When illegals are making multiple trips across the border over several months, to cash in on lucrative handouts when they cross, then I would say the border is wide the eff open.

No actually it doesn’t empower them to take action directly at the border Larry. Especially now with a cease and desist legal writ ordering them to stop. But I’m not shocked to see that logic coming from you. However as I said just keep sending those migrants to sanctuary states which he does have the ability power to do and it will get solved while being cheaper for Texas

Plus I don't believe that SCOTUS ruled that TX can't put barriers up like razor wire, they ruled that the Feds could cut the wire or take the barriers down. If that's the case nothing is stopping the steers from laying more wire or fixing what the feds cut.

I’d have to read it but I inferred that SCOTUS told them they can’t put any more up. However putting up more and getting them taken right back down just sounds like bigger waste of time.

Pick them up right after they clear DHS and immediately ship them to Chicago or NYC and this gets fixed quick.

LMAO there’s that surrender flag 🤡

As long as they get sent on to where they’re welcomed with open arms everyone is happy Larry. Win win!

I had no problem with the measures Abbott had taken even putting up the wire at first. But this back and forth is expensive and there now is a legal order from SCOTUS to knock it off. So just move to a more effective method to get it addressed and put the migrants in the sanctuary states where they are welcome.

So, I take it you've never been around a southern border town, right?

@hog88 I believe you are correct in your assessment of what the order speaks to and as you alluded to what it’s quiet on. The order only allows the Feds to cut thru the wire Texas installed but makes no mention of blocking Texas from installing more. Regardless I still think moving them out of the state is the more cost effective option for Texas.
