How Ole Miss keeps getting these studs is beyond me, and in before someone flashes $$$$

They are usually known for good looking women which always helps. When you also beat Saban 2 years in a row you get credibility. That's how.

Brothas ain't attracted to the same type of women as white dudes. So unless there are a bunch of Kim Kardashian look alikes at Oxford, I doubt the typical blond hair Beckys at Ole Miss are any better than any other southern college town.

The women angle at Oxford is overhyped. If a brotha is picking a school because of the women, he's going to schools located in Atlanta, Houston, or Miami. I promise you he ain't going to Oxford, Mississippi.

I have never been to Oxford but can this really be true? It sounds like a myth created by some guy who got lucky in a target rich bar one night. I mean, it is such a small town (population per the 2014 US census less than 22,000 and with very little ethnic diversity). Put it this way if every woman in that whole town is hot...that's still not a lot of women.

Knoxville has a population of 184,000 by comparison. I guess I find it hard to believe that there are more attractive women in Oxford than Knoxville - or at Ole Miss than UT.

Edit: even if you combine the populations of Oxford and Starkville, you would still have the smallest of all the SEC towns - about 44,000 people. That's crazy.

BROTHAS!?? Lol. WTF is wrong with you. The more you type, the more you sound like a 47 year old, video game-obsessed, white nerd living in mom's basement.

In terms of the numbers, it kinda has to be... Like I said, even if EVERY single woman in Oxford and EVERY single coed at Ole Miss is attractive (which is highly unlikely in a state with the highest rate of obesity in the country per CBS.com at 35.4%), you're still not talking about very many women here - probably around 20,000 or so. I think it's a case of a small group of young women who make themselves highly visible standing out in a very small place. The big fish in a small pond principle, if you will.

Laughing here...ole D4H. He picks out a narrative then wraps the facts around it. When he can't find the facts, well, he just fills in w/ opinion. Sometimes right, often wrong, but never uncertain.

Exactly what I was thinkin though......dollar signs. What else could explain it? Are they just THAT GOOD at recruiting? I lean towards no.....

A friend of mine graduated from Ole Miss. I asked him the same question a few years back. So, he had me go with him fora game against UTEP.

We went to the grove, and just hung out with folks before we went to the game, and it was really cool. I have to hand it to them. But that trip showed me the number 1 reason why recruits would decide to come to Ole Miss.

I have been in places where there were beautiful young ladies before, but at Oxford, they were everywhere. And I am not talking about somewhat attractive, I am talking beauty queens growing on trees, and every ugly woman in town was thrown in jail that day. They dress well, and are very friendly.

Had I been a 16 or 17 year old recruit, that experience would have convinced me to consider them. No question. If you don't believe me, go see for yourself.

Better question is how is a first year coach beating Butch out for these kids.

Because Smart is recruiting in-state kids and he was a hot up and comi DC fresh off an NC. But mainly because UGA was a top choice for instate kids before Smart even got there.

They come from all over MS--not just Oxford. Same thing happens at UT Austin (women from all over TX), etc. You cannot just look at the population of Oxford.

Can you blame them? They only have 5-6 chances a year to meet someone at a game, who is hopefully from out of state, to get them the hell out of Mississippi :) that said Hattiesburg is a nice city..close enough for day trips to Nawlins and the beach but still tolerable

Smart can reel in a top class by selling Bama's success and the hope that he can replicate it at UGA. That's a big selling point to in-state recruits. He can oversign like Butch did, then process the roster. It will be a coup if we can pull Warrior and Brown.

Here is my best guess on our finish
Callaway 4 star
Warrior 4 star
Woods 3 star
Bailey x 2 3 star
Moss 3 star
that would be 22..not a great class but needs met

Think we'll land Warrior, Callaway and Woods. Don't think we'll get Brown, Hardeman, Dickerson or either Jones.

I'm not sure about the logic here. Wouldn't selling Bama's success just steer players to Bama? They're after most of the same players after all.

nope and I haven't seen one thing that makes me think that we are even in it for Simmons..I'd take Woods now..take a chance on losing Bailey and hope we can get Kongbo back on NSD
