SDSU showing their ignorance

The Vols do like to run. Unfortunately it usually results in dribbling the ball out of bounds, a forced up shot against two defenders or an ill-advised alley oop pass that bangs off the top of the backboard.

I just hope with all my might that the light goes on for these guys and they realize they have to defend, rebound and scrap for 60 minutes. There are no style points in the tournament. I don't like to bash individual players but if JP takes off on a fast break again and his man gets his own rebound, I am going to puke.

What's funny is going to their site and reading their trash talk, what have they ever won?the San diego city championship? Please vols shut the critics up this year.

If Ron Slay and Vincent Yarborough can't get it done we ought to be able to bring Dale Ellis and Bernard King off the bench.

They haven't received much publicity this year and should be effective in this first game of the tourney. :whistling:

I'm sorry, what exactly have the Vol's done in basketball? "The Volunteers have had 16 NCAA tournament appearances with an overall record of 11-16. A record of 8-6 in the first round, 3-5 in the second, and 0-4 in the regional semi finals."

That's right, not exactly winning a championship either.

I have no problem admitting that SDSU has not done anything in the tournament. That is a fact (0-5 to be exact). But it is a new year, and we have to start somewhere. So as an Aztec fan I am hoping to make that record move to 1-5 in the NCAA tournament. But please don't act like you guys are the crown and jewel of even the SEC. This isn't football we are talking about.

I guarantee you morons two things.

1. Steve Fisher will not read this board

2. He will watch plenty of recent game tape and will gameplan according to your current style. You all do realize he has actually won the National Championship, he knows what he is doing.

Honestly, IQ level on this board is just piss poor.

I'll take the IQ test with you.

Fisher was handed a championship. Thereafter, he blew gorillas, which is why he's plying his wares at SDSU these days.

We have no doubt that he will gameplan accordingly; however, it is quite comical that a coach would even answer questions about a team when he clearly hasn't even seen them play a game this year. The style of play he mentions would have been accurate 2 years ago...but not now.

By Thursday, I'm sure he will have seen many of our games and will know that his statements were totally false.

Not sure what you're referring to with the IQ comment. I can guarantee you that 99% of us on here don't believe he'll actually go into the game with the views he had at the time of this article. Even if some of our fans don't respect you, I guarantee you that Bruce Pearl will.

I agree. I normally try not to respond to stuff like that but I had to make a comment on this one. Too many quotes taken out of context and not nearly enough credit to a championship winning Coach Fisher.

How is this quote taken out of context?

“They run a high-paced game,” Fisher said. “They’re going to press us, try to get us out of control. We’re not bad running, but we’ve got to selectively run. We can’t have a 100-98 (score), which is what they want.”

Unless it was a quote from 2 years ago, it's false.

GTFO. Fisher deserves far less credit than Coker. That was Lute's title.

He might have watched the LBSU game from three years ago. Of course, I doubt he would have been talking about how we wanted to win a 100-98 game in that case. He did get pretty close to the total points though.

Is it just me or does Steve Fisher look like a more hip version of Bill Snyder?

Awww, mid-major fans are so cute.

Well, we have nothing to lose. You on the other hand risk losing to the fated Mid Major. You all have lovely Rose Colored BCS glasses, I look forward to you realizing what you are in for 5 minutes into the game.

I think you have a tough team, but the lack of respect that you have shown in your opinions of the Aztecs will only make Thursday that much more enjoyable, especially when exactly none of you have actually seen us play. I have seen you play. We match up VERY VERY well.

Ok, you can now commence your moronic chatter again.

Thank goodness you've come along to salvage us. Otherwise, we'd just wallow on in our ignorance forever. This place is just full of people who believe UT hoops is the pinnacle of collegiate basketball success.

Plus, your look at the matchup shows a keen eye for hoops and almost otherworldly intellect. Your IQ must be off the charts. I have to asse with all that basketball brilliance and tremendous brainpower that you make fortunes in Vegas. I'm already jealous and we've only just met.

Does Tyler Bray hurt that much?

We've actually been in the tournament 17 times and have a 13-18 record

Originally, I was referring to the Billy White comment someone made about him not even knowing what his team likes to do. If you actually see the video, his statement doesn't come across the way that guy interpreted it on paper.

But you are right, maybe out of context isn't the right way to make the point I was going for. I watched the interview the Union Tribune guy is quoting from and it doesn't translate quite the same as the article makes it seem. But as I mentioned before the Union Tribune is basically a joke when it comes to covering Aztec Basketball, so it wasn't a knock on you guys.

But you guys are kidding yourselves if you think Coach Fisher wont be prepared come Thursday. I think if you ask any coach 5 minutes after finding out who they are playing in the NCAA tourney what they think about their opponent and they may not get it right. (Add on a sub-par "journalist" and somethings get a little skewed.)
