The more overconfident they are the better. The more they talk up SDSU and downplay UT the better off we are.

Frankly, I don't see SDSU holding Reggie Johnson below his 21 pt average. But if they do, Coach Don Devoe will have to work the ball inside to big Howard Wood.

Btw...are John Ward and A.W. Davis calling the first round game on the Vol Network?

Yes they are, but I feel the 64 team field is SO diluted this year compared to the 53 teams from '84...

This game is looking scary though:

1. It's after a 30 point loss to our rival.
2. It's at 10 pm at night and long ways from Knoxville.
3. About a quarter of the analysts I've listened to are picking San Diego State as their sleeper pick in the Midwest.

When we lose we simply enjoy San Diego. There are worse ways to drown your sorrows. :wavey: San Diego's blandishments are part of the reason why we have trouble recruiting and dominating. We have too many alumni from other "prestigious" athletic programs who were dissatisfied where they were and moved to San Diego - with their allegiances -the first nanosecond they had the chance. I found this tendency particularly irritating since I grew up about 80 miles from SDSU.

Many of your fellow citizens have made San Diego their permanent choice of residence as well. I work with one of them. There are far more Vols in San Diego than Aztecs in Tennessee, I'll bet. Since SDSU is a much larger University than Tennessee (SDSU has 34,000 students compared to UT's 28,000) alumni size must not account for the difference. So any San Diego City championship includes some of you all as well.
