Seantrel Henderson discussion (merged)

1. Our coaches should not be questioned at this point.

2. Our coaches will not be issuing press releases saying they are trying to get Seantrel Henderson. They are smart enough to pursue without getting it in the media because if he goes to Miami there is zero perception hit that he preferred being a Cane to being a Vol.

3. It would seem to help us if he does what most expect and go to Miami precisely because they are low on space and it would make it more likely for us to get the USC O Linemen.

I'm not saying I need a press release, I'm just saying I would love for a little birdy to leak a bit of information that were on it. I know it's not going to happen and I even understand how it is beter for us if it doesn't but I'm dying here in the summer waiting for at least camp.

He may not be the last to leave if this has any truth to it. This was in the comment section on the LA times blog. Some of the UCLA fan comments were pretty funny too.

USC football: Lane Kiffin releases Seantrel Henderson from letter of intent | The Fabulous Forum | Los Angeles Times

I'm sure Kiffin and co. lied to each and every trojan recruit, not just Henderson. And, each and every trojan player is soon going to learn how unethical this group of coaches is. Not only did they screw Tennessee, but they did their best to steal all of their best players by instructing them not to show up for their first day of class. Talk about slime!!! My best friends son is a trojan player, and they are looking elsewhere as this is being written. Any player that stays in this program will soon learn the lesson of NOT knowing when to cut your losses. Kiffin and co. will bury this program. They are the exact opposite of John Wooden. And, their pyramid of SUCkcess can't be spelled without USC.

Seantrel Henderson to Miami nearly a done deal? – Miami Hurricanes – Sun-Sentinel

The Hurricanes are potentially on the verge landing of a late addition to the 2010 recruiting class.
A big addition.
All signs are pointing toward tackle Seantrel Henderson, the nation’s No. 1 recruit, signing with the UM. According to a source close to the situation, the announcement could come early as Wednesday.
To recap, the 6-8, 320-pound Henderson was the USA Today national player of the year his senior season at Cretin-Derham Hall in St. Paul, Minn. He signed with USC after strongly considering Miami and Ohio State. When USC was handed stronger than expected NCAA sanctions, Henderson began to doubt his decision.
On Tuesday, he was officially released from his letter of intent.
Henderson and his family have been silent for months, but his interest in UM is no secret. It was truly a last-minute decision when he chose the Trojans on National Signing Day. Earlier in the day, there was even a report he had decided on UM.
Nothing is official, but stay tuned …

Seantrel Henderson, a prized offensive lineman considered by most analysts to be the nation’s top high school football recruit, and his father, Sean, said on Friday afternoon that he would attend the University of Miami in the fall.

Henderson had been recruited by just about every major college football program in the country.

Interviews, insight and analysis from The Times on the competition and culture of college football.

Henderson’s announcement came just three days after Southern California released him from his letter of intent and is a recruiting coup for Miami Coach Randy Shannon.

Henderson is a 6-foot-8, 340-pound left tackle from Cretin-Derham Hall High School in St. Paul, Minn. and had been recruited by just about every major college football program in the country. Immediately, he becomes the prize of a Hurricanes recruiting class that had already been ranked No. 14 by Scout.com and No. 16 by Rivals.com.

His decision is the culmination of an unusual recruiting process.

In February, after announcing his decision to attend U.S.C., Henderson postponed signing his letter of intent until U.S.C. officials had appeared before an N.C.A.A. infractions committee.

Henderson said that he signed the letter only after Lane Kiffin, the first-year U.S.C. coach, had assured him and his family not to be worried about possible penalties from the investigation, which centered on improper benefits given to the star tailback Reggie Bush. But last month, the Trojans were hit with a two-year bowl ban, four years’ probation and loss of scholarships.

After the sanctions were announced, Henderson didn’t report to U.S.C. and was instead given his release from the Trojans.

He will arrive at Miami on Aug. 3 and is already academically eligible for the upcoming season, Sean Henderson said.
