I give an A if we win the regular season title outright. A+ if we advance past the sweet 16
I guess for the season but if we don’t make it to the sweet 16 after winning the sec that’s a D for the post season and an F if we lose first round 😬 hate to give a C for sweet 16, but that’s about average for Barnes and it’s especially average if we draw a 1 seed. B for Elite 8, A for final 4 and A+ thereafter. I guess to determine an overall grade you average the two? I feel overly critical after writing that.

That brings up a question? Should the two be separated? Would you rather have an ok season and go deeper into the tourney on average? What should the fans emphasize? My thoughts are the regular season with steady sweet 16 appearances. The tourney doesn’t impact recruiting or the draft as much as reg season performances. It also doesn’t mean we would enjoy the regular seasons as much as we have.

Winning 25+ games and reaching the sweet 16 should be an A- at worst. Reaching elite 8 is an A+ and of course final four or more is super A++++++.

Some of you have unrealistic expectations

I am an old schooler in this matter. Regular season means more to me, BUT I want NCAA success too. To me, success in the regular season is reflected by the very best teams. The NCAA needs to modify their format by making it a best 2 of 3 from the sweet 16 through Final four. You won't see a 4, two 5s and a 9 in the final four. I get it's deemed the national championship as it is played now. Really, under the current format it should be labeled as NCAA tournament champion, because of the one and done format and luck required to win it

I think for a school that's never reached the Final Four like Tennessee, I think a great season and a decent run in the tournament making it to the sweet 16 on a consistent basis and eventually getting over that hump to the Final Four is what is wanted. Looking at South Carolina and Auburn achieving a Final Four somewhat recently, it's not out of the realm of possibility.

As far as the OP, I think with 2 of those being at home and homecourt advantage being a big thing in college basketball, I don't see losses there. Probably 3-1 with a loss to Alabama. Depending on who they play in the SEC tourney, and winning a couple of games there, they're a lock for a 1 seed.

I think we go 3-1 during this stretch. Not sure how it will play out with tiebreakers but I think there will be two teams with 14-4 conference records. We will get the double bye in the SEC tourney and probably win the first game. I would be okay with a semi-final loss. Conference tournament needs to go away for power 5 conferences. It serves no purpose except for enjoyment for fans. I have no desire to attend with 10000 Kentucky fans there. Those people are fanatics for that event. Really hope Barnes gets over the sweet 16 hump this year. Playing an elite 8 game with a chance at the schools first ever final 4 appearance would be exciting. Vol nation would be super amped for that game. Toss it up Wednesday and go play. We just need to make some shots, our defense will give us a chance during this 4 game stretch. Go Vols!

The slate is wiped clean! All the good and all the bad is wiped away. Conference championships, a one seed, and a deep March run are all in front of this team. It starts now ladies and gentleman and success will be measured how we do from this moment on. Let’s go and take all the glory and what comes with it boys!!!
Preach!!!

Aced the first week…one more win gets you share of Sec crown…2 more gets you an outright title and possibly a one seed. Great start but tons of work left to do!

3 down and an outright Sec title in the bag! One more could cap one of if not the best Sec regular season in program history. Let’s beat Kentucky for the cherry on top boys!

At the beginning of this 4 game stretch, I hoped for at least a split. With one game to go, we're at 3-0. Kentucky may be the toughest of the 4 but one must admit, this was a brutal way to finish the regular season. Kentucky will come in wanting to spoil our winning the conference. I hope we don't let them leave Knoxville with a satisfied smile on their faces.
