This does not exist but just for fun, let's get your predictions of what would happen in the following matchups:

Purdue vs. Kentucky

Michigan State vs. Florida...we had this matchup, UF won.

Ohio State playing FSU soon, lets see if they beat them worse than UF. Who would win if they played TN?

Northwestern against South Carolina.

Wisconsin v. Vanderbilt The Badgers beat Arizona by 4, Vanderbilt beat them by 12.

Penn State vs. Ole Miss

Illinois vs. Alabama

Minnesota vs. Miss State

Michigan vs. LSU

Indiana vs. Georgia

Iowa vs. Auburn

MSU would play Kentucky and Tennessee would play Purdue (which we already lost). Kentucky would get smoked.

Your match ups are stacking the odds in SECs favor.

I would say it would probably be 8-3 Big Ten with the extra inflation of leaving out the SECs worst team.

I would take UK

I would take TN in this game.

I would take Northwestern.

Vanderbilt wins this.

Penn State vs. Ole Miss
Ole Miss

Illinois vs. Alabama
Alabama

Minnesota vs. Miss State
Minn wins...this game is difficult to call. The Bulldawgs have a much worse loss than Minn. If they have Sidney they definitely beat Tubby, but he is not there yet.

Michigan vs. LSU
Michigan. They already lost to Alabama but if you believe as I do that the Crimson Tide are better than LSU and that the Tigers look way too thin to win this game, it is a loss for the SEC.

Indiana vs. Georgia
Cannot see the Hoosiers losing this.

Iowa vs. Auburn
I do believe Iowa is even worse than Auburn and Auburn is not good.

The SEC wins 7-the Big 10 wins 4...

Transitive logic is fallacious, but I would feel great about our conferences going head to head from top to bottom in basketball.

My match ups were win loss records from the Big 10 versus the SEC. It is why Arkansas was dropped.

Common opponents for Michigan State and UK against UNC, oh and of course also Florida, who many predicted would get "smoked" and who beat the Spartans despite not shooting very well at all from outside.

The match ups are not made mid season.

Unlike you I do not get excited over Florida winning 2 games. I bet you thought would the SEC would beat the Big 12 at this point last season.

Scotty are you aware of the games between the SEC and the Big 10 this year?

Florida unranked at the time and now considered third best in the SEC by rankings beat Michigan State.

Tennessee lost by 1 to Purdue which is now the highest ranked Big 10 team.

Alabama unranked beat Michigan which was ranked and now dropped out. That was also because they lost to Marquette by 14 points. Oh and for the season they have no quality wins. Even if they beat BC tomorrow, they will not be a very good team.

Ole Miss beat Indiana by 18...

I think I am going to say the Illini lose also. They are on a swell 2 game losing streak to mighty Bradley and Utah.

Minnesota will look alot better if they can beat Miami on the road, they will have righted the ship back to the team that beat Butler, I just am not sure they can do it.

I also do not think that Ohio State will look as convincing if they can beat FSU as UF did against the same opponent.

there is nothing you can say that will make the SEC better than the Big 10.

Agreed. Top to bottom, I don't think it's really even close.

Objectively, MHF has a point based on Sagarin ratings

USATODAY.com

The current "Overall" rating, which is a synthesis of schedule played, weight for early season, straight W-L record, and scoring margin show:

1 BIG EAST= 84.56
2 BIG 12= 83.49
3 ATLANTIC COAST= 83.32
4 SOUTHEASTERN= 81.34
5 BIG TEN= 81.00

Sagarin believes to make predictions for upcoming games, simply compare the ratings of the teams in question

Assuming neutral site, comparisons would yield...

Purdue (-4) vs. Kentucky

Michigan State vs. Florida (-2)

Ohio State vs. TN (-2)

Northwestern vs. South Carolina (-2)

Wisconsin (-2) v. Vanderbilt

Penn State vs. Ole Miss (-9)

Illinois vs. Alabama (-2)

Minnesota (-7) vs. Miss State

Michigan vs. LSU (0)

Indiana (-1) vs. Georgia

Iowa vs. Auburn (-9)

Take this for what you will. To some Sagarin is garbage, but others think he gives legitimate analysis.

I'd say give teams a little time to gel and then reevaluate who is better. It's still early. Both conferences have a handful of teams with potential to make runs at tournament time. Anything is possible. :good!:

The SEC is still not very good. You can go on with your Jihad as much as you would like, you're not going to convince anyone with an IQ higher than mayonnaise.

Purdue 6-0 vs. Kentucky I think UK could win, will know more after we see UK against a good team.
Ohio State 6-1 vs. Florida I would take Florida. They looked better against FSU.
Northwestern 6-1 vs. Tennessee The only way TN would lose to NW in this game is if we were 2-17 on 3 pointers like NC State was.
Wisconsin 5-1 vs. Ole Miss Wisconsin would win this game I think easily.
Michigan State 5-2 vs. South Carolina MSU would destroy SC
Illinois 5-2 vs. Vanderbilt I would be happy to take Vanderbilt, although they seem to suffer from giving up the lead like Clemson. They let Missouri back in.
Penn State 5-2 vs. Alabama This is a close game, but I would take Penn State.
Minnesota 4-3 with 3 losses in a row vs. Miss. State Tubby Smith is either going to let his team implode or not now. I think not. I think they would beat the bulldawgs without Sidney.
Michigan 3-3 vs. Georgia Michigan
Indiana 3-4 vs. LSU LSU
Iowa 2-5 vs. Auburn Auburn

So I would say in these matchups it is SEC 6-5, but the SEC if it is better than the Big 10 is not much better. I think people who say that the SEC is nowhere close to the Big 10 are dead wrong about the strength of some teams like Minnesota and Michigan and the weakness of Florida, Vanderbilt and Ole Miss. Whether the Big 10 or the SEC ends up as the strongest conference could come down to Sidney getting eligible.

Here would be the results of your proposed matchups:
Purdue over Kentucky
Michigan St. over Florida---if played now
Tennessee over Ohio State
Northwestern over S. Carolina
Wisconsin over Vanderbilt (did you see the Wis--Duke game)
Ole Miss over Penn State
Illinois over Alabama
Minnesota over M. State
Michigan over LSU
Indiana over Georgia
Iowa over Auburn
The entire world of college basketball over Arkansas

I don't see how the SEC is better than the Big 10. They are clearly proving their worth in the ACC challenge.

Those last two games would define "craptastic."

Here would be the results of your proposed matchups:
Purdue over Kentucky okay
Michigan St. over Florida---if played now hahhhahahahah
Tennessee over Ohio State I would like to believe that but it is debatable to me
Northwestern over S. Carolina Hardest team for me to judge. I have watched them once and NC State played like dog crap.
Wisconsin over Vanderbilt (did you see the Wis--Duke game) I would love to see this game. I think Vanderbilt will keep getting better.
Ole Miss over Penn State Yes
Illinois over Alabama Maybe...
Minnesota over M. State Probably agree
Michigan over LSU Maybe
Indiana over Georgia Not sure. They looked BAD when Ole Miss layed the hammer on their face.
Iowa over Auburn Iowa sucks worse than Auburn, but not so bad as Arkansas. Iowa is one of the worst teams in a big conference I have watched.
The entire world of college basketball over Arkansas

Sorry this is kind of funny...Why would Michigan State suddenly beat Florida? And I guess you think us losing by 1 to Purdue suddenly looks like a pretty good loss? Do you think UK is very overrated? I honestly was very impressed with Purdue watching them in the challenge, they looked like the best team in the Big Ten.

I don't see how the SEC is better than the Big 10. They are clearly proving their worth in the ACC challenge.

Well let's see, higher average RPI of 11 teams at the end of the regular season? Or do you want to say number of teams in the tournament? Or we could try success in the tournament.

Take a pick.

Do you know what jihad means?

The cut your losses quote I used was a plea to you to try and save what very little credibility you have by stopping with the asinine predictions.

I understand you are trying to fight this battle by throwing out numbers and guessing on things you have no clue of, but at some point in a man's life he has to realize he's just not that intelligent of what he speaks.

And who doesn't know what a Jihad is?

Again, MHF, you are putting words in my mouth. I have always though the 1 point loss to Purdue was a good loss, as losses go. There is nothing "sudden" about that. Do I think Kentucky is overrated---absolutely. Last second shots that win over poor teams does not equate to a top 5 rating. The Florida win over M. State was a fluke. If they played again, it would not likely be close.

Can someone please tell me how to set up a signature for my posts that attributes this correctly to it's author?

Don't expect MHF to rely on factual information in his posts---just pure conjecture works for him.
