SEC Championship Game.

These are the kinds of sunshine pumping post that cause problems. There were plenty of these types of threads last year also. You know the ones, we have CBJ we will finish at least top three in the conference, just need a few breaks. Then when someone post a realistic thread they are Negavols. Unrealistic expectations leads to disappointment and fan discontent.

Depends on qtb play and how well the juco players plug in.. the team will have to jell together but should with 2 cupcakes up front. Will be interesting. I am stoked to see all these great players coming to Tennessee. Go vols. Maybe we won't be the gutter rats no longer..

The normal OVERexpecters come along and overhype everything and then scream for coaches to be fired when their overexpectations aren't met.

Typical of VN unfortunately where very few actually are realistic or know anything about college football and how a program is totally rebuilt from 1 of the worst in the country.

Can we think for a minutew or two please?

Who will be our starting QB when we have 4 that could be solid competition for each other IF somebody doesn't transfer out?

Tiny is gone to the NFL so our ENTIRE O line is now GONE and it does take time for a O line to gewl and become good especially in the SEC.

Our RB situation should be OK especially if, and a big IF, Hurd is fully healed up and ready to go.

Our WR's are still young and inexperienced but we do have alot of talent at the WR positions so maybe all those guys will really push each other and we'll have 4 or 5 that can really step way up and give us a WR rotation to be envied by everyone.

Our TE positions should also get better but we'll still need alot of improvement before our TE's will be the serious weapons bUTch wants from those 2 positions.

On the D side of the ball we need LOTS of help everywhere and more speed, speed and lots more speed and even with a great recruiting class we're still going to be very young and inexperienced.

Our rock star is gone so will we really Parlardy on Special teams with our kicking game like we did so well most of this season?

Punting changes field position which is very important so who will pin teams deep as much as we did this season?

Will our Kickoffs go deep and rid the runback issues?

Will we be consistently hitting the FG's where in the SEC just 3 points can make a difference of a Win or Loss?

People here should NEVER forget that we still play in the always brutal SEC and that many other programs HAVE been outrecruiting us for many years now so we still ARE BEHIND on the 2 deep talent level by a great deal.

1 great recruiting year simply won't change things against teams that have great recruiting classes for many years in a row.

We are back on the right track finally and this recruiting class is nothing short of amazing but we still have alot of catching up to do.

If we get 6 or 7 Wins and are back in a bowl game next season I'll see that as another good step back in the right direction towards SEC domination in a few more years where we should be most every season.

We better hope our new O and D lines gel fast or next season could be really long.

Year 2 in our D system makes me think we'll see more blitz packages and that could make a difference in some games for us.

The 1 thing that's for certain...It's sure going to be fun the next couple of years watching all these great players coming in learn and develope into the stars we all expect them to become.

#BrickbyBrick...VFL...GBO!!!

Does anyone else just not give a crap about this game besides me?

For all the fans that are realistically looking at the state of Tennessee football. I was looking at the schedule for next year. There are some tough games. But I honestly look at next year and I can't see the schedule as tough. Forget the Oklahoma game. Looking at the SEC I can see a 6-2 or 7-1 conference record. Of course some breaks have to go our way. But with all the new QB's I don't see any terror games to be scared of. What is your honest opinion on the upcoming slate. Do we have a legitimate shot next year to be in Atlanta?

????
Are you serious? Next year will bear close resemblance to this year. Maybe we can get 3, at most 4 SEC wins. Are you serious about your post?

We just went 5-7. We are losing the whole OL. The QB situation is still unsolved. Despite the great incoming class, depth and inexperience will still be a major issue. People saying that we will win 9 or 10 games and go to Atlanta next season. Crazier things have happened, but I just don't see it.

Unbelievable how crazy people are on here. High expectations are cool and all, but let's be real here ...

This team will be hovering around 5-7 and 6-6 again next year, so get used to it. Expect the jump for a year or 2 after that.

I'm very serious about my post. There is a lot of young talent. But there are some pieces there as well. A few juco players filling some spots. Do I expect 10 wins. No. Do I expect another 6-6 season. Hell no. This thread is about the SEC not being as challenging next year. Lots of new QBs next year and our toughest games shouldn't approach anything like this year. This young talent coming in has the potential to surprise. With all the EE there could be some impact players. We should have beat Georgia and Vanderbilt. And in all honesty if Worley starts at Florida we may have won that game. So 8-4 was almost possible this year. And this OL everyone keeps saying we are losing. I can't see us being much worse next year there. So a potential 8-4 season with a slightly easier schedule. Why can't a couple breaks go our way and possibly win 9 or 10. Its not being unrealistic. Its being optimistic. That's the point of the thread. All you guys who want to be realist that's fine. But I don't want to be a negavol either.

I guess we could pull an Auburn or Missouri next year but it's not likely. We will have talent but they will never have played in a CFB game before. I think (and expect) a bowl next year. 2015 we should be back in a big way then by 16 (Bristol year) I think we'll be back on top & feared again!
GO BIG ORANGE!

Nor do I. Although other teams will lose a lot, we're still down in talent after the fact.

If Auburn and Mo can turn it around- why not us?

I can see 7 wins next season. 8 wins is possible depending on how the QB play turns out. I cannot see us competing for an SEC title next season. Like others have said stranger things have happened, but I don't see it yet. I love the optimism though and who knows? Nobody expected Mizzou and Auburn to be very good so there is some hope.

Which game do we lose, to me we could 11-1 with the one lose to OU.

Stop it. Losses to OU, Florida, Bama and Mizzou at a bare minimum. SCar away, Georgia away, Ole Miss away. You're either drunk or sarcastic....not sure which.

You forget that we lose practically ALL of our linemen on both sides of the ball. That could spell disaster. And while other SEC teams are losing quarterback, you forget that our QB situation isn't much better. I can't imagine how we'll be any good with all new players on both lines. It was like our receiving corp this year with all new players. How that'd turn out?
