I marked them off when they bought the Heisman Trophy for Charles Woodson over Peyton!!!!!!!

You couldn't watch their coverage of a spitting contest without them pushing Woodson. :bad:

BRING IT ON!!! :gun: :gun: :gun: :D :D :D

I'd like to see everybody that thinks ESPN sucks so much to just quit watching it. I have a feeling that you'd all go into a nervous fit after about 5 days. It would be worse than quitting smoking.

I have to put the invention of ESPN right up there with the wheel and my XM radio.

The Vols finished only a little below where they should have. As for women's basketball, since when does that get much coverage outside of the tourney anyways? Even though Pat Summitt is a fantastic coach, I don't expect any kind of special treatment.

...and why don't you?

Pat Summit will become not only the winningest coach in NCAA history, but she also made the sport what it is today. She was and still is a visionary.

This is 60 Minutes type stuff here. I don't see why you wouldn't expect special treatment for that woman. That's a ridiculous statement. A WOMAN - let me say this again - A WOMAN - is now the winningest coach in NCAA history.

...tell me again you don't expect special treatment.

GAVol, I usually dig what you post, but you've gone too far this time. I actually had the (dis)pleasure of being the first person to welcome Corso to town 3 years ago with a handshake and dirty look in the airport. As my wife and her friend plotted ways to off their husbands so they could run away with Kirk Herbstreet, I vowed to never, ever say anything nice about ESPN again.

After all, what has ESPN ever done for us? Dissed in the polls? Dissed on halftime coverage? Lack of respect for the winningest active coach over the past decade? Hell, even the ladies hardly get as much media as they deserve. Pat Summit is about the most successful head coach IN ALL OF SPORTS. Then they go and hype up this BS with Bama just for publicity like we did something wrong WHEN THEY ARE THE ONES THAT CHEATED! We see how successful that sabotage effort was with our recruiting class.

So they cry when kids and fans shout obscenities and throw stuff at the Gameday set, crawl away, and hide up by Thompson Boling arena behind nets. GOOD FOR THEM: YOU GET WHAT YOU DESERVE! I know people may think of Tennessee as a bunch of backwoods rednecks, living in a trailer park, and eating fried opossum for dinner, BUT HAVE YOU EVER BEEN TO ALABAMA? ANYWHERE IN FLORIDA BUT ORLANDO, TAMPA, OR MIAMI? OKLAHOMA FOR GOD'S SAKE?

Great post!!!! And I'm very sorry to hear that you had the pleasure of welcoming Corso....I would have gave him a swift kick in nads LOL

Pat is within two games of breaking Dean Smith's record? Why is this not receiving the ultimate hype!? Sports Illustrated and every sports publication out there should have her as thier cover person (can't say covergirl). Pat should make sportsperson of the year! I dont see much from the local media on this either..Whatz up?

Any cover except :machinegun: SI!!!!!!!!!!!! And yall know why!!! [/quote]
Totally agree...just look who was on the cover last week...

Umm... Because women's basketball isn't focused on that much, and when it is, I hear Pat Summitt's name quit often. ESPN covers the most popular sports first, then mostly which teams are winning because they will get the biggest ratings out of that. If we were in Auburn's place this last season, I can GUARANTEE you we would be in the same position. Instead, we ended up quietly trucking through the rest of the SEC, with the exceptions being vs. Notre Dame (and losing a game with that big of an audience certainly doesn't help one's respect) and the SECCG (which leveled us out around 15th). So, yeah, ESPN doesn't cover UT. Except the little women's hoops they do cover, Tennessee's in it quite a bit. But as for the season, outside of the wins over Florida and Georgia, it was about as quiet of a 10-win season as one team could have. I don't blame ESPN for anything.

All we have to do next year is WIN and win BIG, then the respect and high rankings will roll in.

Didn't help either that Burnett was talking to the media about respect the week before the game.

I agree with you Milo, win them all next year and the attention will come our way.
If we do go undefeated or have just one loss and still don't get mentioned much, then it will be official about ESPN and Tennessee.
