Therefore, the POY should also be from the conference champ

nope...the best coach is responsible for every aspect of the program if they win the conference which is every teams goal then they deserve coy....you can def be the poy and not be on the championship team....the best player is not responsible for the whole deal

Any team that lost to Miss St at the end of the season should automatically disqualify you from just about any award. That is easily the biggest turd in the punch bowl loss that I can remember in a long time. Miss St barely had enough scholarship players and beat Ole Miss who was fighting for their NCAA lives. That's atrocious and should automatically knock Kennedy out.

Even though I don't think any coach was head and shoulders above all others, I'd give it to Donovan. Martin deserves some props for winning the last eight out of nine, but the beginning of the season and the sweep by UGA is his biggest knock.

Exactly how I feel

Who would you give it to, billy the kid?

Probably. I don't subscribe to the theory that just because they were supposed to be good, that it should disqualify him. If you remember, I championed Cal for COY last year, regardless of how I feel about him personally, and regardless of the amount of talent he had.

This year however, there is no clear cut overacheiver, nor is their a real clear cut best team. So, I'll give it to the guy that won the league.

Losing his best player before the season and after struggling early, finally redesigning his offense to what he had left. Has to go to Zo.

I'm good with billy or Martin, anyone else and they screwed up.

Nobody answered earlier, do the coaches vote on this and the teams or is it media?

Leagues coaches I believe.
A quote from last season:
The league's coaches voted Kentucky's John Calipari SEC Coach of the Year for the first time, after the Wildcats' third-year coach led his team to a 30-1 overall record and No. 1 national ranking.

Then Martin may get it, he's pretty well liked...definitely rules out Kennedy.

Billy Donovan an easy first choice, Andy Kennedy a clear second, and a long way back to whoever's third. Good grief...talk about a low threshold for what is considered a "best in the league" job...Martin took a team that was picked 4th in the league, barely behind Mizzou f 3rd, and they end up finishing tied for 5th.. Not accurate to say I'm disappointed as this team, given the strength of league, maymon's absence, etc finishex about where we should have. But coach of the year in line for a big raise? Give me a break.
