SEC East Scrimmage Breakdown

Tennessee will go as far as their uglies will take them unless the qb proves to be a playmaker instead of a game manager.

Trying to forecast the season, I just don't see them winning the battle up front in most of the bigger games.

Just need to win the battle on the scoreboard 99. That's all that matters.

Probably. That still comes to 6-8 wins. But you are correct. Teams that can will probably find that they can line up and run right at UT's DL.

I think the OL will be better than many expect but that remains to be seen.

UT's playmakers are at WR, TE, and RB. A "game manager" who gets them the ball will do just fine.

I understand you're trying to keep up your rep as a "negavol" and all - but it's really getting old.

I'll play though.

USU
ASU
UTC
Ole Miss
USC
UM
UK
VU

I'll show you 9 and 10 too. UGA and UF.

Now go to take some anti-depression meds.

In his early days here, Fade was a pure nega-vol IMO.

However, don't think that's the case anymore. He's a realist more than anything nowadays.

What do you think that performance will be like? New faces, but some with SEC snaps, but 2nd year in a new system. It could, potentially, be better. Or worse. Thoughts from a UF fan?

I hear you 18, but don't forget.... In Tyler Bray's last Orange & White game, he was 5-32 iirc.... against a Sal Sunseri-coordinated defense. I know it's Spring game vs Fall practice but sometimes the preseason performances can be deceiving.

I can't remember if it was the SEC or NCAA that they were talking about... but recently I heard that they have the fewest starters and lettermen returning in one or the other.

For a program that depends more on system understanding and development than raw talent... that does not bode well.

Everyone else was really impressed with Mauk last year. I wasn't. Low % passer who had some big time weapons that he got a big play from now and again. His WR's last year looked like those Bray threw to in 2006... His WR's this fall will look alot more like the ones Bray threw to in 2007. The difference being of course that Bray was a very accurate passer and Cut installed the "dink and dunk" to cover the lack of explosiveness at WR.

I said before last season that I thought that 2014 would be better than 2013.

The reasons for that are still true for me.

1. People will have a better knowledge of what they are doing being in the same system for consecutive seasons.

2. Despite being younger, there will be more talent on the field. Generally speaking, I'll take talent over experience.

The problems (IMO) are that....

1. The youth isn't in spots. It's all over the place.

2. The schedule is unforgiving.

3. The weakest spots may be on the line of scrimmage on both side of the ball.

USC and Ole Miss......lol. There's not a single reputable sports media source that predicts us to win those games. Guess you know something they don't. Good luck.

I think Jones and UT match up well vs SOS and USCe. It isn't so much of who has the better team at this point but rather the match up.

I won't predict a win... though I suggested it last year around this time... but it is definitely a game on the table.

I'm just not sure about Ole Miss. I think it will be more of a function of whether they've actually turned the corner or not than UT being better than expected. IOW's, if UT beats Ole Miss it may not mean as much as many think right now.

BTW, the 7th and 8th wins would have to come from some combination of Ole Miss, USCe, UF, and UGA.

Ole Miss to me is still an enigma. USCe is a good match up again for Jones but SOS has proven to be more of a shape shifter than I ever thought he could be. He'll adjust. UF is also an enigma but reports coming from their camp seem positive... of course they're coming from Muschamp who was also pretty positive last fall IIRC.

UGA seems to be the most talented team in the East. I put them on this list only because Richt often finds ways to play down to competition and has historically had problems with UT regardless of talent disparity.

It's year 2...

National Championship or bust if you ask me.
