7 SEC teams in the tourny.

they could yea.

the point is it could be 3 all the way to 7, but you are dead set on say IT IS GOING TO BE 5. as if it is a fact.

very simply its not. and as EVERYONE has said, that number could go up or down. it could very easily be 6.

KY
VANDY
BAMA
FLORIDA

Tenn wins 2 games they're in
Miss St wins 2 games they're in

thats 6 boss.

yes besides winning the Tourney. win 2 or 1 in the tourney.

i think they have a chance with winning 1. it will just depend on what the other bubble teams do, and if any small schools steal bids and take away from the number of at large bids available. if the bubble stays how it is, and a few teams lose i think we'd get in with 1 more win.

with 2 wins i think we are a sure fire lock. and in my opinion will actually get a pretty good seed.

JMO though

you havent said imo it'll be 5 or less

you keep saying IT WILL be 5, that exact number FIVE

you dont know that. if thats your prediction fine, but its not a fact so dont say it as if its a fact.

just simply say i think the sec will get 5

Of course it's a damn prediction, he is not a freakin psychic.

as i said to him, there are a lot of fans venturing over here who dont know everything, and are checking it out because of the recent success.

not everyone knows all the ins and outs. the op started this thread and made that statement as if it was the truth and there was no chance of that number changing. i have an issure with that, that's all.

there are many scenarios that could have the sec being represented by as few as 3 teams or as many as 7. and he continues to say the sec WILL get 5 because of this or that. theres no number out there right now that is right, and saying this is how many because of strength of schedule is just flat out wrong.

Thanks for the link....This is an unusual year to select. Jay Bilas mentioned that during the pregame show Saturaday AM.

i must have missed that.

i dont think there should be much homerism from the committee, imo they are usually pretty fair in what they do.

people point to bama last year as being a snub, but their RPI was 75 on selection sunday, and they closed the year bad. those are 2 very good reasons, especially the rpi as to why they shouldnt make it.

same with miss state 2 years ago. their rpi was up around the 90's on selection sunday, and they didnt close the year well either.

both teams were left out with very good reason imo. i have always thought the committee did a really good job.

Mississippi State's RPI was not in the 90s two years ago. It was 55. RealTimeRPI.com Men's College Basketball Rating Percentage Index (RPI) Ratings - A leading sports ratings and resources community on the Internet They had a legitimate case that year, although their resume wasn't that great.

you're right, i pulled up 10-11 season by accident.

they were right at 55 on selection sunday you are correct.

they didnt however close out the season well in the regular seaosn though, and im sure that played a part. 5-5 in the last 10

that also was a very strong field if you recall that year. this year is one of the weakest fields in recent memory. also they took 64 that year, now it's 68. id venture to say miss st would have been included if it was a 68 team field.

USC resume last year was pretty ugly and they made it in.

Mississippi State's problem that year wasn't how they finished (SECT run was impressive). It was the whole body of work, as Florida had the better overall resume, although Mississippi State was probably the better team at the end of the year.

After tourney it will different. I don't see Bama winning and MSU might win one or two (if lucky).
You don't see Bama winning against South Carolina? Alabama's not losing to USC-East twice in one season. I don't even think that is possible.

the 5-5 in the last 10 didnt help, thats all. as i said also, that was a pretty stron 64 team field

this is a very weak 68 team field. imo

all my point was originally was simply that i think the committee does a pretty good job of being fair, and picking the right teams.

i expect much of the same this year. now if tennessee is snubbed my opinion will change. :)

Of course, that's always the way it is. :p

I just think we are in the best position with the exception of RPI than Miss St, AL, or any others in the SEC.

It is easy to overlook RPI when you see the storyline of this team and where they are. Tennessee has taken care of buisness and in doing so secured a 2 seed. They earned it.

The bad losses and the RPI will be the excuse if they don't make the cut and it will be right.

So I think two more wins to get to the Championship game on Sunday and the committee will see that this team has a shot at the automatic bid anyway will put them in.

It would be hard for them to ignore the 2nd place regular season finish and no worst than 2nd in the Tourney.
