That's not going to happen. Someone is plan ting disinformation. A&M would not be sticking it's neck out if the SEC had not guaranteed them entry.

I would tend to agree.. just interesting that all of a sudden this info comes out

Bill Byrne just give a "Gig 'Em" to SEC Chatter | response to: @Bill_Byrne - Welcome to the SEC

I don't think this would happen. What would be the reasoning for not letting them in? Having the other teams join just puts more money in the pot.

I'd say they're in. I don't know how i feel about expansion though. There will be some long standing yearly rivalries that are going to be lost. I'd say Alabama/UT will be in danger of not happening every year anymore.

This is the key point and why I'm firmly against expansion. I'm surprised more people aren't upset at the thought of losing that rivalry. The thought of only getting to face Bama twice every 16 years makes me sick. Imagine if we catch them at the wong time, lose twice, and then have to wait almost a decade and a half before we even play them again. LSU/UF and UGA/AU would also have to be sacrificed if the SEC chooses to go to 16 teams.

If the presidents didn't vote A&M into the SEC, man, it would really suck to be the Aggies at that point. They would be vilified and crucified by the rest of the Big 12-2 for trying to leave, not that A&M's relationship with Texas could get any worse. That would be hard to imagine having every team in your conference hate you and boo you when you play them. Think Nebraska's hate when they left, but stronger. Bring the Aggies over to the SEC promised land, just try to a good 14th team, please SEC.

I doubt they'd put their neck out like this unless they had assurance that they'd be allowed in. They'd be crucified if it didn't happen.

Exactly. I would not expect A&M to put themselves out like this without assurance from Slive that they have the votes to join the SEC.

Is it a necessary precondition for there to be another school to join now for Texas AM to join? Or could the conference vote them in and shop the open spot(s) for a while? Maybe even a year?
