SEC Stadiums

As much as I hate to admit it, I have been in Commonwealth more than Neyland.

I grew up in Lexington and my dad had friends and we were able to go whenever we wanted to.

Although, I still can't get out the cut of Were from Kentucky, aka Were from the Country....... and the stupid air raid sirens!

That post definitely had more impact typed in purple than it ever would have had in standard black.

Been to UGA, Arkansas Little Rock and Fayettville, Ole Miss, Miss. State, Alabama B'ham and T'loosa, and UGA. Out of these I would say UGA.

UGA has classy fans? Are they hidden from the public or something?

I want to meet the classy UGA fans as well. Been there and sat in UGA's section at Neyland and it was awful.

Agree with how GA put Williams Brice. It's really nice on the inside, really pitiful on the outside.

Commonwealth was a cool stadium IMO.

I went to the Bama game last year & sat in the student section. It was loud but I try not to think about the game too much. Bad memories. I don't have anything to compare it with but overall it was a nice stadium.

I also have been to Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn twice. I was working concessions so I didn't really get to look around much.

Commonwealth and Williams Brice are too far back from the field.

Sanford Stadium is nice. Stupid design for their home students having to walk out infront of the visitors section. Fun times though if TN wins there.

The Swamp is ok, as long as you aren't up in the third tier endzone section.

Went to MS St last year, it's one of, if not the oldest stadium in the SEC, and it isn't anything special.

Alabama has a nice stadium too.

Tiger Stadium is nice, but visitors upper deck sideline is still too far back from the field.

I would say Sanford and Bryant Denny are pretty close to the best of the ones I have been to. Florida and LSU are next. Arkansas is next. Commonwealth and MS St next, followed by Williams Brice.

(Still need to see Auburn, Ole Miss, Vandy)

You guys don't ever get to witness it firsthand, since we play so late in the year, but Commonwealth Stadium on a night game in October, the smell of barbecue and bourbon - it's special.

no we don't, but thanks for being so bad that it makes it easy for us fans to get tickets for the one in November every other year.

been to all of them but Arkansas...other than Neyland...

Best for atmosphere: LSU
Worst for atmosphere: Vandy

Best for pregame/post game: Ole Miss
Worst for pregame/post game: Miss. State

Most impressive Stadium: Hate it, but Alabama
Least impressive stadium: Vandy..though Miss. State is bad

Nicest fans: Ole Miss
Rudest fans: Georgia

I'm pretty sure it's the 2nd oldest stadium in D-1a right behind Ga. Tech's

I went to the game this past year too and didn't think too much of it. Not much pregame fun, old looking stadium, and I was seating in the upper deck and I swear to you I could see atleast 10 water towers in plan view

Its not very loud there at all, and is more like a bowl then a stadium. Still a nice place though for a mediocre football program.

I went to UGA this past year and wasn't very impressed. Auburn is a great place to go to a game though. I thought USC was awful

. . .I lived in Athens, Ga. in 1976-77 and saw some great games there! The Dawgs were SEC champs and the stadium rocked!! Can't hold a stick to Neyland though!!!:)

Although I have lived in Atlanta my whole life, I have never been to a UGA/Tenn game in Athens. I am looking forward to going to my first one this year!

UK throttled the Dawgs there in '77 in front of Prince Charles. Wasn't even close.

1977....was that the same year KY was on probation?

Yep, they went 10-1, only gagging at Baylor the 2nd game of the season. Ran the table in the SEC. I guess if you're going to cheat, you might as well win.

I have tried to document all of the games I go to with pictures but for one of my favorite stadiums (LSU), I had no camera. I will rank them without Neyland and include a picture of mine with each.

#1a LSU - Great atmosphere inside and outside (food) of the stadium. Non-stop loudness. Two non-UT visits.

#1b Florida - Seems every fan is involved and screaming which is why this is probably the loudest stadium I have been to (LSU close 2nd). I am 2-0 in the Swamp.

#2 Ole Miss - The Grove is very cool and the stadium isn't too bad. Probably has the most good looking girls, though I don't understand the whole dress up thing. At least 3 non-UT visits.

#3 South Carolina - Stadium is great though I couldn't see half of an endzone from my seat. Sits in the middle of an industrial park it seems. No scenic atmoshpere outside.

#4 Arkansas (picture) - I put Arkansas here because they had what seemed to be high school metal bleachers on one end of the stadium and you couldn't pay me enough to sit up there. Plus the fans were arrogant and the worst I have experienced (includes UF).

#5 Mississippi State (extra pic) - The atmosphere outside of the stadium was decent but the stadium makes you feel liek you are at a large JUCO game. I looked down to see kids throwing the football under the stands at one end and had a flashback to high school. Flat and lots of water towers also.
