So of course we will start with the usual suspects Alabama and Georgia and the Dawgs could be going for a 4 peat next season. I guess LSU will be in the mix as well I’m not sure if Jayden Daniels and their offensive playmakers return or not. Do you guys think OU and Texas will come in immediately and challenge for the SEC next season ? Or will they have some growing pains and struggle. And what about our Vols if this season was a transition year what does that mean for next season. Is it a rebuilding year ? or can we make some noise and make a run at the SEC title game? We need a good solid win in our bowl game to go into the offseason feeling good.

Too early to say. A lot will transfer out or in. Some will go pro. We will know a lot more in about 2 months.

If I had to base it in schedules, I think TX has a much better shot than OU at making it. I think the SEC would love one of them to get in, because then you get the “newbie coming in and beating the old guard” narrative. As for UT, I think it depends on several factors, but the most dire is our O-line: who stays, who goes, and who do we bring in?

Agreed. Offensive line now determines our destiny, followed by who steps up in our senior-laden defensive backfield.

We've addressed offensive skill positions. We've assembled defensive line talent that can stop the run and put pressure on passers. I think our special teams are in all aspects in good shape. Overall depth is growing, though lagging behind injuries this season.

But our record won't improve until we get better performance beginning-to-end from our OL and DBs.

I think Oklahoma offensively will come out strong but their defense is very very bad
I think they took a lot of strides this year compared to last. Venables is trying to build a team that is physical at both LOS. I thought they were the more physical team when they played Texas and Texas has legit NFL DL this year. OU will I think be improved, next year will be a tough matchup.

Preach....I've been saying this for years.
You have to stack talent on the lines to be a serious contender.

LSU has the best schedule to get to the championship game. I assume they will play winner of GA/Bama.

As for Vols 2024, it is probably more of a true rebuild than this season was. One position could've made this a 10/11-win season. Next year will be many new faces. 8/9 wins is the target zone IF we get a significant number of returning starters on OL.

Imagine the ratings when Georgia and Alabama are no longer in the SEC championship hunt.

Nobody other than fans wants to see this tired-ass matchup.
Who is going take down Georgia and Bama ? They aren’t going anywhere anytime soon especially Georgia. But I agree them in the SEC title game and them in the playoff is getting really old.

I do think that bringing in TX and OK enhances the likelihood that UGA and Bama take an L somewhere in the regular season, which probably would not keep them out of the 12-team playoff but it might keep them from getting the first-round bye.

I didn't say anyone was, nor did I say anytime soon. You don't disagree with me on anything, you disagree with ghosts that only you see. My point was simply that the entire country outside of Alabama and Georgia would like to see anyone but them in the game. No dumb predictions on who or when were made.

Vols are a 7 or 8 win team for the foreseeable future. Need to improve quality & quantity in the roster.

I could see us being a 8-4 to 9-3 next year due to growing pains if alot of starters on the O line and D line have to be replaced. I could also see us being back in the 10 win range if QB play is better. 7-8 wins for the foreseeable future is BVS
