Winning the SEC Regular season makes the SEC Tournament that less important.

Do you think Barnes will rest his starters and give his young guys a chance to play in that kind of environment?

I don’t think we want to risk an injury to one of our key players.

A #1 tourney seed is still on the line. Best shot at making our first Final 4 is getting a 1 seed to guarantee we won’t have to beat Houston, UCONN, or Purdue to get there.
I am not at all sure about this, but if we ended up being the top 2 seed, wouldn't we be in the same bracket with the weakest 1 seed (Arizona)? Maybe someone knows the answer.

No, these guys have to keep playing and stay in a flow. Further, the SEC tournament preps the team for the NCAA tournament. The only difference between the SEC tournament and the NCAA tournament is that the SEC tournament is back to back. The NCAA tournament you get a one day break between games.

Normally, they would put us in the south or east in Houston or UConn’s bracket to give us our closest regional location. But New England and Texas aren’t much better than traveling to California.. so who knows.

They’d most likely place us closer to home which I think would be better

If I were coaching I would try to win the first game and then play my back end of the bench for however long they took us every single year. Unless you are on the bubble that tournament is a complete waste of time

I would, but the selection committee keeps moving the target. When we win the SECT, they don't give it as much weight and say it doesn't matter. We don't win it and they'll use it against us in seeding. I think we've done enough to get the #1 seed right now regardless of the UK game. We lose that game and I think we'd have to at least make the finals to get a #1 seed out west. Honestly, if this team beats UK to finish this gauntlet, I say screw the 1 seed. Rest your starters and roll with the 2 seed as a fresh team.

I think if we beat UK it's all over but the shoutin!

Wait a minute do what? Have you ever seen a coach rest the starters in any tournament in sports history 🤔

He will coach the SEC tournament to win it as he should. The flip side of resting your starters is that you run the risk of them having to knock off some rust in the NCAAT. Single elimination setting ain’t a good time to be knocking off rust.

Were we to find ourselves in a blowout game, Barnes would undoubtedly get some young guys out there, but otherwise, he’s going to coach to win.

Look, I want to win every game. But if a SEC tournament champ costs us a chance at the National Championship, pass. ZZ worries me about the minutes he's playing. It's going to catch up.

Hope I'm wrong and we don't lose another game this year... may not be the worst thing if we have extra days to rest.

Would it break my heart to won both? Of course not. Just pointing out the other side.

Coaches and players don't think like that. A coach would lose the respect of his team if he or she didn't allow the team to compete for a sec tournament championship

Did I say they should? Of course not. I'm just stating extra rest may be a good thing. That's it. I hope they win every game.
