SEC Tournament Question?

Florida's two championships and Final Four in 2014, won the SEC T each time.

Auburn 2019 Final Four, SEC T champ.

Kentucky 97 and 98 FFs,SECT champ. 2011 FF. SECT champ. 2015 FF SECT champs.

Miss State FF 1996, SECT champ.

1983 Georgia FF, SEC T champs

So it's actually pretty common for our SEC teams who make the Final Four to have won the SEC T. A couple of years where a team went to the FF from the league without winning the SEC T. There were two SEC teams in the FF and SECT champ was one of the two.

So it's never a bad thing to win the SEC T.

A #1 tourney seed is still on the line. Best shot at making our first Final 4 is getting a 1 seed to guarantee we won’t have to beat Houston, UCONN, or Purdue to get there.

SECT isn’t going to move the needle much for that. 2 years ago we won it and had zero effect.

Give your all for Tennessee!

Try turning it down; there's no guarantee you can turn it back up again. It won't work any better game-to-game than it will within a game. How many times have we seen a team slow it down, letting the other team get the momentum, and then they can't get it going again?

I think with Santi, JJJ and Dalton's last games for UT they would want to play all the games they can, and ZZ is not going to rest. We just have to hope no one gets injured like ZZ or Dalton. ZZ's injury end of Feb last season killed our NCAA chances IMO.

Maybe rotating them a lot more in the SEC tourney would be a compromise.

I am not at all sure about this, but if we ended up being the top 2 seed, wouldn't we be in the same bracket with the weakest 1 seed (Arizona)? Maybe someone knows the answer.
you would think that, because if we are a # 2 seed, we should be the top #2. but all predictions I've seen show us in the same bracket as Purdue.

I think we'll see Barnes sub a bit more often to help keep minutes down...

but the 1 seed in SECT means we have a full 6 days from Saturday's game to our first SECT game on Friday.

First round of March Madness then isn't until the following Thursday/Friday.

So if we just keep winning, we would play the title game on Sunday and still get at least 3 full days rest before round 1.

We have probably the easiest path to another sec tourney title than any other team and only have to win 3 games instead of 4 or 5. He may go deeper into the bench than usual but I expect Barnes to want to win it again.

& they play a 16 seed the first game. Just 1 upset from a 16 in the history of the tournament and most of the 16 vs 1 are blowouts and should get to rest players with less than 25 minutes of playing time.

Actually I think that there are now 2. UVa the year before they won it all and Purdue last year?

The team is on the beam right now. I've seen many teams rest their starters and get blown out in their first game back. Peyton had a perfect season going with Indy a few years back. Coach decided to rest the starters the last game because they had clinched the #1 seed. They lost. Lost their undefeated streak, lost their momentum, ended up losing in the playoffs. If they need rest, then Barnes needs to sub more, but I think you want to keep them focused.

Would not mind taking a loss in the SECT Championship or semi finals.
Tennessee is on a win streak they usually respond well after a loss
I would rather go on another 6 - 0 win streak to end the season.
This team seems to adjust well and they do have to maintain flow.

There is ZERO question in my mind Rick and this Vol team will not enter the SEC tournament with one huge goal of winning the tournament. Any other discussion is simply not credible IMO. With other teams and coaches..maybe…but not this team!

Can't see the Deacon not wanting to win both regular season and tournament Championship. Tennessee will go full tilt in SEC tournament, the Deacon would not accept anything less..

I think we’ll play to win but don’t think anybody’s heart will be broken with an early exit.
This is the attitude of many. Sad, but that redundant tourney is redundantly redundant. Can't we play some more compelling OOC teams?

This is what I was wondering ... how many FF SEC teams made it after sing or winning the SECT?
