Vol fans, If an SEC team is playing an OOC team (i.e. Bama vs. Penn State this year) would you go for the SEC team? I know I would, becuase if they win it means more if we beat them. I've heard people say they hate Bama and Florida so much they would never go for them no matter what. Doesn't make much sense to me, because it means something to be competing in the best conference in college football. Just want to know why people would think differently.

It's simple, the only team I cheer for when they play somebody OOC is UF and that's only during bowl season. I will never, ever, cheer for Alabama.

I root for the outcome that most helps UT. If we're chasing something and a national ranking, then we need our opponents to look stronger. If the games are immaterial to our team, I root against our enemies as loudly as possible.

i used to cheer for SEC schools in all OOC. But now I don't so much, because I think the worse our rivals are, it couldn't hurt us in recruiting. Bama winning a NC makes recruiting vs them a little more difficult.

Maybe so, but it makes football in the SEC more interesting. We're going to get our good recruits each year. I'm not that worried about Bama.
