SECC more important than the BCSC?

I'm talking about right now. Earlier in the season we were the 3rd worst team in the SEC. Now we are 5th/6th.

I am an SEC fan and have been my whole life. That said, I believe the winner of the SECCG will get beaten by Texas assuming they don't overlook Nebraska.

Both UF and Bama have some issues on offense. UF has struggled to throw against better defenses. Bama is weak at QB.

Texas has a good D with excellent talent led by a guy who knows both opponents. Texas hasn't faced a D as good as either of them. OTOH, neither D has faced an O that potent either.

Take your shots all you want... but Texas will likely have the Heisman winner and BCS trophy come January.

name one of those 3-12 teams that would even sniff the top of any other bcs conference or the mountain west for that matter.

Come one droski... no need to get silly. Every SEC team save Vandy would stand a very good chance of winning the MWC. Any of them can play good for two non-consecutive games then stomp the rest of their conference foes which are basically homecoming fodder.

Also any of them would be in the upper third of the ACC or Big East.

Top to bottom the SEC isn't as strong this year. There's either parity or a power shift. I suspect the latter.

I think the Big 12 or Pac 10 is the strongest top to bottom this year but the Pac 10 doesn't really have an elite national contender.

I don't really think texas' D is all that good. They got thrown all over by A&M the other weekend.

Don't believe the myth of strong Big 12 defenses.

While I believe Texas does have a very good offense, there's not a team in the Big 12 that comes close to either Bama or Florida defensively.

The winner Saturday night in Atlanta will win the national title.

I'm still laughing that you think the PAC 10 is good. It's a bunch of unproven frauds. Stanford hasn't proven damn thing, and neither has Oregon out of conference. The best team in the PAC 10 lost to the best team in the WAC. In 2 years, tops, USC will get back to mutilating all the contenders in the PAC 10 and then we'll see how much progress the conference has made.

Texas's D aspires to be Nebraska's D. They wont hold an SEC team to under 30.

how do you know if the two teams compare favorably if they don't play anyone worth anything?

What do you know, I agree with droski on something and was wondering the same thing. I think it's all this pro-sec talk that has people favoring their teams or sec teams. The SEC is nothing special this year and these two great no loss teams should both have one loss right now.

I don't think the SEC is as good as it has been. I just want to see some notable out of conference wins for them before they start telling people they are anything more than the trash they usually are. UCLA beat UT when Crompton was playing terrible. Big deal. The only respectable OOC win I can think of right now is USC beating a vastly overrated OSU team in the 'Shoe. And it doesn't change the fact that Oregon was embarrassed by the WAC leader.

How can you give Tennessee a pass when they were playing terribly against UCLA, but not give Oregon a pass for crapping the bed opening night against Boise State?

Oregon is playing some of the best football in the country right now while UT recently got pummeled by Ole Miss.

That said, I think UF or Bama's defense would handle Oregon's spread.

Tennessee did play bad against UCLA. But if Crompton was anything like he was later in the year, UT wins that game.

Oregon may have had a bad game, but it makes your conference look terrible when they get embarrassed outside of the conference and then kills all the crap inside of it.

sooo..it has been said many times that the REGULAR SEASON of collage football IS a playoff...and as of right now we have 6 UNDEFEATED teams...does that mean we have 6 CHAMPIONS?
because for what it's worth the only games left are conference champs games....EXCEPT Boise St they have already won (a share) of the WAC and this is their 13 REGULAR SEASON game...so if they finish the REGULAR season 13 and 0 (no championship game)
they should be #1?
anywho....we have 6 undefeated teams.and after saturday we will most likely have 3 ..and the BCS is just going to up a say..."well this team did all we could have asked of them....they finished the season undefeated.....BUT too bad for them....there are 2 other teams undefeated."
and what if Cinci and Texas wins?
5 undefeated!!!!!!!
BCS SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
oh what a playoff this year would be!!!!!!!!!!!!

Because it is our team. I mean we've been 1-3 in the past 4 years against the pac 10, which is sad considering what those pac 10 teams went on to do the remainder of the year.

I know you're not making excuses....Vol fans don't make excuses. Oregon's improvement following the opening night loss to Boise is the most impressive turnaround in college football this season.

That's not to say the PAC-10 is any stronger than the SEC, but you can't make an argument in UT's favor and then use that same argument against Oregon.

So objectivity is thrown out the window when discussing your team....got it....
