SECC more important than the BCSC?

no...I think Tennessee should have had to play Tulane to win it.

Somehow I doubt you had an empty feeling in your stomach following the '99 Fiesta Bowl knowing Tennessee didn't beat Tulane to prove who the "real" national champion was.

So objectivity is thrown out the window when discussing your team....got it....
The difference between UT and Oregon is that UT isn't the best team in the SEC. No one is using UT as an example of conference pride. Oregon, the team that is destroying the PAC 10 competition, and the team that is putting up great offensive numbers, put up 8 on a mediocre Boise State defense.

I see what you're trying to say, you just made a very poor argument in trying to say it.

It doesn't change the fact that you give your own team a pass for playing poorly early, especially considering Oregon beat the same UCLA team you guys lost to by two touchdowns.

It's clear when UT turned things around. It was when Crompton started playing better. Oregon turned things around when they started playing the PAC 10 schedule.

75% of Oregon's schedule is against PAC-10 teams. I'm not really sure what your point is. USC beat Ohio Sate in Columbus, and Oregon completely destroyed USC.

I'm not qualified to say whether or not the PAC-10 is any stronger than the SEC top to bottom. Historically I'd say no.

That said, you're discounting the most improved team in college football simply because 3/4 of their schedule is in conference....a conference with two teams (UCLA and USC) that won road games in Knoxville and Columbus. Oregon easily beat both of those teams.

There is nothing special about Ohio State this year.

Oregon's OOC games included a loss to Boise, a squeaker over miserable Purdue, and a close win over Utah. Everything remotely impressive about them was accomplished in conference play.

oregon was a very young team. they replaced their entire oline and a bunch of nfl defensive players. they aren't the same team that played boise. for one they obliterated washington on the road. remember LSU barely beat UW.

Washington beat USC. Either USC is really down, or LSU's win actually means something.

I'd guess USC is really down. If USC was as good as they usually are, does anyone look at the PAC 10 in any different way?

SC is clearly down, but SC was a far better team in the first half of the season before half of their starters went down to injuries.

Didn't USC's back up qb play during that game? He is awful which is an understatement.

Remember how you were saying Corp should have been the starter this year?

:) yup. i have no idea how a guy who was that big of a stud in edit: High school could suck so bad. we now know why carroll was pushing an obviously overwelmed barkley into the starting position.

His poise in the OSU game was impressive. OSU isn't special this year, but it was still an impressive drive to win the game.

most of that drive was mcknight and the SC offensive line. barkley might end up being the savior, but has looked horrible recently. dont' be surprised if arizona beats them.

Yeah I didn't think he did anything special on that last drive either. Like you said, the line and RBs, especially McKnight, just wore down OSU's defense.

Barkley had big completions that entire game, especially some big third downs. He looked as good as you could really expect in game 2 in that environment.
