Seeding has to be fixed immediately

I think they need to either change the way the aq and bye weeks work or reseed the field after the first round.

The matchups in this bracket after the first round are pretty incoherent.

Let's just beat osu, then oregon, then tx, then uga. Undisputed hardest playoff schedule. Stomp them into oblivion.

Well we can blame the greedy conference expansions. Oregon would be the Pac 12 champion, Texas Big XII, MWC wouldnt have an auto bid. Arizona st wouldnt be in. Boise would have to have been an at large and no bye.

They have to stop pretending that the B12 ACC and MWC are power conferences anymore they are group of 7 conferences. Conference champs should not get an auto bid. Just rank the damn teams.

Agree, but I would throw the Big 10 in that group as well.

True. I hate Georgia with a passion, but found myself rooting for them last night because I didn't want a Big 12 team winning our conference.

The Big 10 is a f***king joke. A Pac 12 team punks the conference, going unbeaten and beating the other alleged "power" teams in the conference in doing so. Texas beat nobody in the SEC this year, and lost twice to the only good team they played.

Why no talk about ND and a pitiful loss . They also played absolutely no one

Yep, no doubt. But the worst thing about this bracket is that Penn State and Texas get rewarded for losing CCG's by getting free rides into the final four of this stupid "playoff". Oregon is unbeaten and the #1 seed and has by far the toughest draw of the seeded teams. This thing is an absolute farce.

Your right. The bracket is so unbalanced it’s not even funny. UGA can go ahead and reserve its spot in Atlanta. IMG_4541.jpeg

Totally agree with fixing it.

It should be more like Basketball - you have the 5 automatic bids which are decided by seeding the champions of all the conferences. Then you select the 7 at large teams. You then take those 12 teams and seed them 1 to 12. And you don't do this until "selection day".

This maintains the importance of the championship games as the winner gets a bid, while ensuring the next 7 best teams are selected and placed accordingly.

By not publishing a poll every week and waiting until selection day, you avoid all the conversation about the loser of the games. Everyone knows they are not guaranteed to be "IN" if they don't win that game.

If you change it, then what happens when the SEC has 1 vs 2 matchup in Atlanta? The winner of the game will be absolutely meaningless.

It will be like it was when there was just 4 - if you want to ensure you are in, you must win - otherwise you wait.

I think the publication of the rankings each week is a big issue. It doesn't let them select the 7 at large teams based on the entire season of work.

This is why I've been saying the conference championship games are meaningless and should be done away with. Remove the auto bye and rank teams at the end of the year. Make everyone play a 13th game of you want but conference title games should go they don't mean anything or they shouldn't.
Georgia's starting QB sustained what is probably a serious injury so the league could make that cash. There wasn't any part of me that cared to play on that game this year. I would have loved to have gotten there and then made a joke of it by refusing to play starters. Would never happen but a fun thought.

Take Tennessee out of it… for Oregon to win their conference and be the #1 team and be rewarded with the toughest road to the championship while the team they beat gets put into a much easier path is atrocious. Joel Klatt was right when he said this.

Besides being a meaningless game in todays play off environment, that extra game is another opportunity for key players to get injured and out for the remaining games. It's all risk and low reward. Also I've heard all day from sports pundits that the conference championship games CANNOT punish a team for losing, but at the same time it can reward a team for winning--makes no sense.
Everybody knows that Bama would beat SMU head to head, and SMU schedule shows they played nobody , but yet we have to pretend they deserve to be there because they beat up a bunch of other nobody's and have a winning record

Crazy how unbalanced the whole thing is. However when you look at how unbalanced the B10 has been for twenty years it makes you understand the math

The #1 seed got a worse draw than 2, 3 or 4 under this fiasco.
Regardless of the 8/9 winner, they will beat Oregon. And instead of saying "we seeded this wrong" they'll be a chest thumping session of a "cinderella" bullsh!t story line comparing this to basketball

Tennessee was ranked the 6th best team in the country by the AP and Coaches and the 7th best team by the CFP committee and yet here we are playing on the road when we are widely recognied as better.

By their own damn ranking Tennessee should be hosting SMU and I think that's correct. That's where we belong.

They need to fix it.
To be the best you have to beat the best. If the vols take care of Ohio State, you play the number one team. Oregon. None of these teams will be easy. Now if Ohio state beats the pants off of the vols, we know we didn't belong to run with the big dogs. Let the games begin. Don't have excuses after you lose. Don't blame the refs. Take time after the game. See what your team could have done better to win. To get to the next level, you got to know your faults.

Exactly what I was saying. The 4 highest ranked teams should be the top 4 seeds. A conference champion should not automatically get a first round bye just because. I think they should get a playoff spot but it should be based on their ranking.

The only thing about the weather is that it is a mental thing. We have had time and will prepare for that aspect of the game. Rain, snow and sleet has it's effects on the game. Still think we will be fine

Sure I worry about officials in every single game played. Some Officials have bias and they are human to mistakes. Officials will vary in calls from league to league as the games are played players will have to adjust. Holding is the easiest call to make and it is different from league to league. This game to me is like playing GA on the road. So are reviews are subjective calls. Home Field cooking works as well.
So we will see. Our Coaching will be prepare as will the players.
Overcoming these variables is the difference in winning or losing if they arise.

I agree the the seeding needs to be fixed. I’m ok with top 5 highest ranked conference champs getting an automatic bid. However, the seeding needs to be based on the rankings alone.

My biggest complaint is how subjective the rankings were. They claimed to take SOS into consideration but consistently rewarded teams with higher seeds based on subjectivity.
