Well, maybe not to that extent. But, I still am pissed off about how the whole thing went down. Granted, I think we are in great hands. But there is no replacing Bruce Pearl.

Have you ever had an ex-girlfriend still hang around your town, your hang-outs, and still hanging out with your friends? No matter who broke up with who, it's always awkward and there are still feelings.

Why what happened happened, we'll never really know. But, truth is, I get emotional when I see him on tv. I mean, he had it all. He could coach. Man could he coach. He could go out in public, kiss babies, raise money for causes, say hi to you in a non-condescending way. He was great. And now somebody else will have him as coach. It's going to happen and it's not going to be fun. Imagine, when he is coach at Louisville or NC State or something like that in a few years. We'll be like, "he used to be ours." What happened? I don't know. Wish I did.

It sucks and I don't wish he'd move out of town. Part of me does. But, come basketball season it's going to be painful. For Cuanzo, it's going to be bad. We loose any amount of games or not go to the tournament, it's going to be like "Bruce would have done this....or we would have made it with this team with Bruce, etc."

I don't think anybody anywhere could take a team 6 years ago that hadn't made the dance in 5 years or something like that and take them to a #2 seed. That is simply irreplaceable. The best coaching job, i think in the history of UT and one of the all-time greats.

But, we'll see him with somebody else in a few years. And we'll have a coach that we ended up with good or bad. Still emotions will be there.

I still love the guy but just can't figure out how it got away from us. I guess we'll never know.

Well said from a "Pearl Lover" who doesn't want to accept reality. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for him to assume one of those high level jobs you mentioned. Emotional? The only emotion I would feel is disgust for putting our program in an NCAA mess.

I'm not really sure there's much in the OP I agree with. Now if you had included the damage he did to the basketball program I would have been right there with you

Seeing Bruce gives you that tingly feeling in your pants as if you were seeing an ex girlfriend?

Well...to each his own.

I agree with you completely. But look out. The morality police on this site that want everyone hung for their mistakes are going to come after you. There are better places to talk about not hating Pearl.

Maybe when Pearl said "we got into this together, we should see it through together" he was talking about you and him

You have an unusual understanding of what the word "mistake" means.

You stated that " What happened, we may never know."
I thought that Pearl was given a vote of confidence from Hamilton. Then (1) The bump rule (2) The Ky. game tickets incident (3) the Brian Williams failed drug test incident led to Pearl's firing.
I see no mystery to his firing!!!!

But, couldn't we just start over?

Ticket incident IMO wasnt bruces fault the way I heard the story. Otherwise your other points make sense.

If the tournament had been 64 teams when Mears coached, no one would consider Pearl to be the best coach the program has had. Under the format in which Mears coached, the only Pearl-era team that would have made the NCAAT was the '07-'08 team.
