Seeing Bruce Pearl is like seeing an ex girlfriend

Who is responsible for the lack of depth on the roster right now? Who is the one that has possible sanctions coming? It's not Coach Martin.

excuses, excuses.

poor guy inheriting a program that's gone to the tourney for 6 straight seasons. god, this roster is going to be like the middle of the houston era! pearl's fault!

Uh, actually Pearl had a lot more on his roster in his first year than Martin will have. It's not an excuse. It's reality. Guy inherited a team with Skylar McBee, Renaldo Woolridge, Cam Tatum, Tyler Summitt, Jordan McRae, Trae Golden, Kenny Hall and Jeronne Maymon. We have no real center. That's the facts.

Just reason through the roster for us and we'll agree with you.

Post looks awesome, PG has been and will remain fabulous and our shooting is likely to go off the charts. Sounds like a shoo in trophy case filler. Don't know why a new staff would even worry or why they didn't address this sooner.

did we go to the tourney this year? Must have "missed it" (read: blocked it from memory)

Hated to see Pearl go, maybe it was time for a change; still think UT Admin sold out supportng him and no way do I believe the SEC/NCAA didn't put undue, behind the scenes, pressure on UT to correct the circumstance or pay the consequences later. It was probably Pearl's job or your job (Hamilton) too.

They supported him up until Pearl dug a grave so deep that they had no choice but to fire him.

Was someone disputing the fact we made 6 NCAA tourneys in a row? I thought we were talking about lack of depth on the roster.

Well, maybe not to that extent. But, I still am pissed off about how the whole thing went down. Granted, I think we are in great hands. But there is no replacing Bruce Pearl.

Have you ever had an ex-girlfriend still hang around your town, your hang-outs, and still hanging out with your friends? No matter who broke up with who, it's always awkward and there are still feelings.

Why what happened happened, we'll never really know. But, truth is, I get emotional when I see him on tv. I mean, he had it all. He could coach. Man could he coach. He could go out in public, kiss babies, raise money for causes, say hi to you in a non-condescending way. He was great. And now somebody else will have him as coach. It's going to happen and it's not going to be fun. Imagine, when he is coach at Louisville or NC State or something like that in a few years. We'll be like, "he used to be ours." What happened? I don't know. Wish I did.

It sucks and I don't wish he'd move out of town. Part of me does. But, come basketball season it's going to be painful. For Cuanzo, it's going to be bad. We loose any amount of games or not go to the tournament, it's going to be like "Bruce would have done this....or we would have made it with this team with Bruce, etc."

I don't think anybody anywhere could take a team 6 years ago that hadn't made the dance in 5 years or something like that and take them to a #2 seed. That is simply irreplaceable. The best coaching job, i think in the history of UT and one of the all-time greats.

But, we'll see him with somebody else in a few years. And we'll have a coach that we ended up with good or bad. Still emotions will be there.

I still love the guy but just can't figure out how it got away from us. I guess we'll never know.

I agree with you man although I do think CCM will do a good job with this team but damn I hated to see CBP go!

Wake up, please. He put us in a huge mess. Bruce will not get a high-level job ANYTIME soon. And as far as him being a great coach? Anyone that watches any amount of basketball knows when it comes to X's and O's, he's not that good. Jason Shay made Pearl look like a lot better coach than he is.

Bruce Pearl only cares about one thing, Bruce Pearl. If you've ever spent any amount of time around him behind the scenes you will figure this out very soon. I'm glad he's gone, and am tired of seeing him pop up in places.

There are actually some good posts on here. Well, except for lylsmorr. I agree with both sides of the argument on what I suppose will become Pearl's legacy. He does leave here in disgrace. But, the guy could coach and did a lot for this community. As for those who say he only cares about himself, look, EVERY college head coach only cares about himself. They all do. That's how they get to where they are. The undermine, manuveur, end-run, all the things it takes to make themselves look good and others not so good. But, in the end, if you do what Pearl did at Iowa, you're just not going to get people to look the other way when you do something only slightly wrong. And when you lie about it it's your ass, i guess.

As for the comment about Pearl inheriting a better team than CCM. WTF? Seriously? There's only one or two players from that team that would start next year. Pearl inherited a bunch of misfits and turned them into a 2 seed. You can't do that with that kind of talent but he did.

In all, you people must be really young. I went to school starting in 1982. We went to the tourney that year. Since then, we had been to 4 tourney's until pearl got here. End of Don Devoe's last year: No tourney. All of Wade the Fade's years: No tourneys. All of Kevin O'neil's teams: No tourneys. Jerry Green: let's just say we went to the tourney all three of his years, but who cares. BuzzBall: No tourneys. Then along came Bruce.

Nuff said.

If you are tired of seeing him pop up in places now, wait
until he starts to coach at one of the other sec schools.

With Scotty most likely leaving a warm bucket of spit is more appealing than what is left if Tobias leaves as well. There was not much left when BP took the job or Buzz would've done better. BP did a great job while he was here but he screwed himself. Time to get behind Coach Zo. CCM walked into a bad situation and has done a great job so far by snagging some quality recruits and by getting Tobias to consider staying.

DeVoe made the NCAA Tournament his final season. Green was the coach for four seasons and made the field each year.

Lofton, Smith and CJ would start

why should no one care about JG's 4 tourney appearances but BP gets them on his resume? How many did DD have in a smaller tourney format?

Chris Lofton, JaJuan Smith, and C.J. Watson were all better than anybody left on the current roster if Harris leaves.

Major Wingate is as good as anyone not named Tobias Harris or Scotty Hopson that could possibly suit up for UT next year.

Green didn't grasp the power of body paint.

Hell, that's what I thought was wild about y'all's coach, pard. I thought I even remembered him cheerleadin' or somethin' to that effect. Anyway, I'm sure y'all will be just fine. To be safe, however, I don't think that fella should be in the same building as Erin Andrews.
