Selection Committee

You can't actually believe what you just typed lol
Why not? The committee is telling us that with the rankings.

I don’t think the committee is right, but if you buy the argument that they got it right with Bama over FSU, then you have to acknowledge they also are saying it’s FSU over UGA.

You can just call that a participation trophy. FSU stinks compared to the rest of the top 6

Ask yourself if a 13-0 Alabama without their starting QB gets denied a playoff spot... $$$. I honestly still think that GA is better than Texas or Alabama if you want to go the eye test route.
Can’t really disagree. But what I do know is that last nights ACC Championship game was a real stinker, and that the FSU with either of their quarterbacks would be a laugher game for Michigan. My eyes are still hurting from watching that game last night-laser surgery needed to straighten them out. While the SEC is down this year, the ACC was plain awful.

That’s a nice opinion, and maybe right.

But lest we forget Oregon was favored over Washington and UGA was favored over Bama. You play the games for a reason. If QB2 is ready by bowl season then FSU has a punchers chance against anybody with that defense.

The ACC went 6-4 against the SEC this year.

If that 13-0 Bama beat Georgia in the SECCG without their QB then yea, they’re in…

Would FSU have beat Georgia, even with their 2nd string QB?

Not much else that needs to be said
That doesn't matter and that's not what the selection committee is debating. FSU had an undefeated season and will not have the opportunity to play for a NC. That is criminal.

Yeah, this whole would team A beat team B argument is stupid because it is based on personal opinion. If you actually took data on the field, including common matchups (like LSU), you would have to favor FSU over Alabama.

Anyone that had the stomach to watch the ACC championship game all the way through, understands that FSU has no business in the final four. Ugliest game in the history of championship games. I understand that it was FSU’s third string quarterback; I also know that Louisville was beaten by the fifth place team in the SEC East- Kensucky. I hate Bama, but FSU has no business in the Bowl Championship series.
Would you feel the same way if Gaston Moore led us to victory in the SEC championship, knowing full well Milton was out for the year and Nico would be back in time for the semifinal game?

It's a disgrace what the committee did to the FSU players.

Get ready for 2 of the 12 spots to go to 2 G5 schools when there will be teams ranked in 11-14 range that get screwed. But in that scenario, they won't use the "best" scenario

The "Best" scenario is flawed. It is NOT objective but subjective. They 100% should reserve spots for the P5 conference champions - all of them. And they should 100% reserve 1 or 2 spots for the higher ranked conference champs from the G5 schools. That leaves 7 spots for other teams.

If they were really doing this right - they would take the 10 conference champions from the 10 schools and have just 2 at large bids. We need to get back to where a team has to EARN its way into the playoffs by winning its conference first.

I know there are two concerns with that approach:

1. First round games would not be exciting ... that is going to be the case regardless of how the teams are selected.
2. The G5 schools may pull off some upsets disrupting the reputation of the P5 schools. This is what most folks are afraid of. Conferences could be exposed to not be as good as they seem to be.

You can't say Team A is better than Team B until they meet on the football field and determine who is best.

We would have been denied a spot given the logic used for FSU because we do not wear a "red colored" jersey.

I just want to say that it's been an absolute pleasure watching the meltdown on Facebook from all my Georgia friends. My wife has been mad at me since last night. I may not get lucky for a while, but I also won't have to hear "3peat" anymore either, so it's almost worth it🤣🤣

But that is not how the CFP analyzed the rankings.... if it truly is based on the best teams ranked in order, in what world is FSU ahead of Georgia and even Ohio State?

The only coherent explanation is bias.... And if there is bias, that needs to be clarified by the committee as to why they used one formula for part of the rankings and a different for a different part as they are ranking 1-25 today.
That’s my main complaint. Inconsistency from year to year. Let’s just change the rules to justify the four teams we want. No big deal.

Well he won’t be the one playing QB so how can you make that determination? UofL avg 33 PPG and put up 6. FSU’s defense is legit good.
