Seniors returning?

Hyatt could be a 2/3rd round pick this year or come back and be a first round next year. IMO, he needs to improve on his physicality and breaking tackles. He gets brought down by first tackler a lot and most of his catches are uncontested and wide open. He has elite speed and if he improves the physical side would be a solid first rounder. A LOT of money difference between 1st and 3rd round.
If he comes out Hyatt may not go early but I don’t think he’d be on the board by the time round 2 comes around. Can’t coach his speed and he can bulk up while being paid. Somewhere like KC or LA he’d have immediate impact.

I hope people are donating LOTS of $$$$$$$$$$$$ for the NIL deals to be made this offseason.

If some of these guys know for a FACT that they'll get X amount of $$$$$$$$$$$ for certain if they come back to build their strength, experience and ability to move up in next years NFL draft then we'll have a bigger chance to get more of these guys back for another run at a SEC and a National Championship.

Lots of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ always make a bigger impression.

They may also be having lots of FUN as a VFL.

VFL...GBO!!!

I actually like Tim Banks, I think his defense will be pretty damn good if we can get some help in the secondary, Martinez I could do without just like when he was here before our secondary never turn their heads to find the ball. We've had many opportunities for interceptions if they'd just look for the ball
Martinez needs to go.

Could you imagine squirrel and Hyatt on the field at the same time?

They had a special after the bama game that for new memberships in the spyre/tennessee club, all proceeds would go to Hyatt for the first 1-2 months. I joined and later received notice that they were delayed in initiating memberships since there were so many people who joined at that time. That sounds positive!

I’m not disagreeing with anyone’s assessment of Hyatt, but I believe he is gone, and here is my rationale:

I’ve read this in multiple places, but more importantly, heard it from a 13-year NFL veteran I coached with for several years in youth football.

A LOT of emphasis is put on how fast/young you can get to the NFL and get through your rookie contract, which is “bracketed.“ Getting to the second and any subsequent contract a year early is a focal point. Point being, adding one year to your NFL career can add up to much more than the final season’s salary if that makes sense.

With Hyatt’s numbers this season, I don’t see any upside to him returning for another year, and entering the NFL at almost 23 years old in 2024.

Yeah it would be tough to argue for him to stay. Hoping he does. Milton is a semi known commodity largely believed to somewhat carry over the offense next year, though not at hookers level. Don’t know how much more Hyatt can put on tape for NFL teams to push him up their draft boards.

I have looked at the roster and at the number of seniors that didn't participate on senior day and I don't see how we can take a full compliment of 25 or any from the portal unless we have some that go into the portal that no one is mentioning. Any insight out there?

If they are beyond senior year, then they are probably taking a covid year. If so, seem to recall they don’t count against the cap?

He'll be a first rounder this year.

There's literally no WR like him this draft or from the previous 5.

Tennessee fans ALWAYS quick to underestimate their own players...🙄

I don't believe Bru or Hyatt participated in senior day. Byron Young did though.

edit: I realize Hyatt is a junior, but I believe that sometimes they can participate if they know they'll be gone.

I only remember it happening once w/ Eric Berry, as great as he was, still not sure how I feel about a jr participating in a sr day activity. Kinda lean toward leave it to only seniors… Kiffin was the goof that made the exception… surprise, a coach who has no backbone and knows nothing of honor bends the rule…

Nah dude...I watch a lot of football. I can evaluate my team and players without using my heart.

Agree with "semi known" but that also encompasses the possibility that he could be as good as or better than Hooker. No doubt he'll be a more dynamic runner. He has a stronger arm. Can he read the defenses as quickly and accurately and get on the same page as the receivers? Can he hit on the touch passes? Can he avoid interceptions? All unknowns.

Recent garbage time appears to show significant progress. I think there's a BIG difference from a guy coming in from portal having to learn a new offense and new team and being a few years younger/inexperienced (granted, Hooker had the same timeline, but facts are, some people just pick things up faster than others)...vs two years later, he's already a locker room leader, older/mature, and now knows the offense inside and out...so there's a comfort level. Can't give him enough props for hanging in there, staying with the Vols and waiting for his turn. And so, I think his day in the sun is coming!

So, you really believe our DBs are 124 out of 130 teams in terms of speed?? Really?

Very few of those 130 teams are in the SEC. The Vols do not have many DBs who would start for any of the top level SEC teams. Not sure there are many DCs who could take this group and do much better than Banks is doing......which really isn't that bad.
