Seniors returning?

Very few of those 130 teams are in the SEC. The Vols do not have many DBs who would start for any of the top level SEC teams. Not sure there are many DCs who could take this group and do much better than Banks is doing......which really isn't that bad.
And less than two years ago that’s exactly what they were saying about the offense. And 80% of the players who are now the #2 ranked offense were on that team.

There is zero doubt in my mind, after watching Heupel, that Xs and Os is just as important as Jimmies and Joes. Even less doubt that we are not running the best scheme or getting the best coaching on the defensive side.

He has to be older than Hooker. I feel like he’s been around college football since the Obama administration. I was stunned to find out he had eligibility left.

Stetson is oldest in SEC-25 yo
Hendon will turn 25 soon
Milton is 22 to & still growing

Yeah, well in two years, the defense will be better too.

I don't believe Bru or Hyatt participated in senior day. Byron Young did though.

edit: I realize Hyatt is a junior, but I believe that sometimes they can participate if they know they'll be gone.

NO, juniors cannot go through the T. Eric Berry was not allowed to

Marvin West made the following observation in his blog: "Senior Day observation: Senior wide receiver Ramel Keyton, quarterback Joe Milton, linebackers Aaron Beasley and Juwan Mitchell, offensive linemen Jeremiah Crawford and Ollie Lane, cornerback Warren Burrell, safety Jaylen McCollough, defensive linemen Kurott Garland and Roman Harrison did not participate."

Are those guys coming back? If so, next year will look extremely bright! We really need the LB's and DL. Crawford returning on the OL would be huge. We'll probably lose Jr's Hyatt and Thomas because they've got a lot of money waiting for them.
What we need is M'Pemba and Hobbs!!! 🙏

I respect your opinion. In your opinion, why did last night happen?

I think the distractions hurt.

1. Banks discipline issues was a distraction.

2. Everyone, and I mean everyone, had Tennessee blowing Carolina out and the only question was by how much. You had many media members talking of Tennessee scoring in the 60s. Most fans talking was a blowout. That type constant all week dialogue doesn't get overlooked by players. It seemed to impact their focus, IMO.

and then defensively, the game plan and lack of adjustments were really poor. They could not get pressure on Rattler with the front 4 or 5 and did little blitzing. The defensive backs are poor and that is a known all year long. Up front pressure is the only way to help protect. Carolina's offense shot out of the gate clicking on all cylinders and gained very high confidence as the game moved along. Defensively we never adjusted to make them lose confidence or momentum.

I know people point to Coach Banks as an issue and he very likely is "part of the problem". Lack of SEC level talent on defense is part of the issue also. Heupel had a difficult time hiring a DC when he was hired and he got Banks as a last resort. The issue for Heupel is defensive coordinators, established and really good one's, are not interested in trying to build a defense in his up tempo offense. So replacing Banks is likely someone else trying to learn to be a DC.
