The "Why hasn't it already been done?" logic works both ways since Trump has served a 4 year term as President.

Why didn't Trump build new sections of border wall?

Why didn't Trump repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act? He now admits that all he has ever had are "concepts" for a replacement healthcare plan. It's been 8 years, since he first started talking about replacing Obamacare.

Why didn't Trump reduce spending? He had pledged to eliminate the debt.

The reality is that Trump got very little accomplished. He showed ineffective/non-existent leadership during COVID. His conduct in the aftermath of losing the election was a disgrace, which he has declined to take responsibility for.

if Trump was smart he could have turned some of that distractions back in on itself or against Kamala. it was only a distraction because he let it be. and if he was any less of an empty suit he would have used it to his advantage.

No doubt. The traction he gained from his RNC speach and Biden debate suffered a flat tire. He got caught up in old Trump and forgot about new Trump. Granted, she said nothing, and merely delivered well rehearsed speaches.
