Well Kirby did admit at mid-field on national tv that they prepared for 2 weeks for this game (meaning that mostly skipped over UF prep for the game the week before). He later said, postgame, that they had a dedicated staffer breaking down UT film and schemes every week from the time Fall camp started. In some form or fashion they put close to 3 months of prep in for that game. So maybe not their Super Bowl, but the game they knew would be their biggest hurdle in retuning to where they wanted to be.I think you're way overrating Texas and Ole Miss; I think Georgia definitely beats both of them on the road and in both cases worse than Alabama did.
And we were their "Super Bowl"? Come on man, they're the defending National Champions and we were nationally relevant for the first time really since 2001. I think you're being a tad orange colored glasses here.
I mean for them 9-3 might be an implode but that wouldn't come close to a TAMU like implosion. Plus given his track record at Georgia, that level of implosion is highly unlikely.
I challenged a Georgia fan on this one that was being cocky.
Does Alabama go 12-0 playing Georgia's schedule? Georgia had no true road game and was able to get favorable situations for its biggest matchups (Oregon in opener with first year QB and Coach in Georgia and Tennessee in their Superbowl in Athens).
Alabama had to play challenging road matchups in Austin, Neyland, Baton Rouge, and Oxford.
Does Georgia go unbeaten if you flip the script and have Georgia play Alabama's schedule? Does Alabama go 12-0 against Georgia's schedule? (Keep in mind Tennessee goes to Tuscaloosa if Alabama has Georgia's schedule).
Georgia would’ve still won at Neyland their defense is much better than Bama. Kirby has largely shut down Heupel’s offense two straight seasons now allowing only 30 combined points to UT.
If so many have run such an offense before, why could only one team, which was loaded with **** and ***** players, slow us down?Well none of this speculative philosophy matters since we didn’t play USCe in Neyland. We might have lost in KnoxVegas as bad as we played and as well as Rattler played. What matters is we went 10-2 when an 8-4 season was expected to be a great year. Our team superseded all expectations this. Be happy. It was fun. It was exciting. It’s not over yet, but I promise you one thing. Teams will figure out how to stop our offense faster than we build a great defense. If this offense was sustainable, then Hal Mummey, Mike Leach, Gus Malzahn and others would be HOF coaches, not a dub tier programs. We have to build a defense and run the dang ball with a big offensive line.
