Why of those two? I don't even think one of the two is a top contender, and if so, it'll be a too close to call. I personally think if Newt throws in his hat it'll be Newt v. Romney v. Paul. I think Paul pulls in ALOT of independents/libertarians who he does appeal to. I personally like the guy and think as far as fiscal goes he is the exact counter to the current administration and Palosi regime that we need. Newt will really appeal to the mainstream conservatives with Romney I think pulling in the more blue blooded types. The only thing people who claim to be conservative need to remember is Romney did mastermind the Massachusetts health care which is in shambles. I really am not impressed with him.

Ron Paul has 0 chance of getting the nomination and I don't really care much for Romney but he would be better than Barry.

Right now, who do you think is more representative of the sentiments of the party. The party on the whole, not you (although I'dbe interested in who you align yourself with):

Sarah Palin
Ron Paul

The reason I ask is that it seems to me that they have very different priorities and, perhaps more significantly, have completely contradictory views on the role of government on social issues.

Thoughts?

Last time around I thought Rudy G. had the best set of policy views but he probably has too much baggage.

he was great on the healthcare debate. i do wonder if it might be over his head to run the whole country.

Rudy or are you talking about someone else?

Also the last 2 have been over their head - I don't see how that is a disqualifier...:)

Probably right. I liked the tough on crime, national security, fiscal policy approach with the limited social conservative bent. To me, that fits better within the scope of government than most of the other contenders.

I also have a lot of respect for him as a manager. Of the R candidates, he and McCain IMO were far and away the best. But I agree with you that he probably has too much baggage if by "probably" you mean "without question."

McCain was atrocious. His only prayer was that Obama was a hollow shell and that Palin could make a difference. One was true and still didn't help.
