Seriously..would you rather have Gruden or Petersen?

I'd take Gruden. He is a little more of a risk since he hasn't been a HC in college. But Gruden could have a higher reward than Petersen. He could become a legend at UT especially with the TN ties and the fan base's infatuation with him. I've always loved the guy as a coach. Even before I found out about the ties to TN.

Who ever the next coach is I hope he is a tough sum bit*h that doesnt put up with any BS from anyone. I hope he doesn't believe in excuses and makes any player, coach or ball boy run steps if they even try to use one. I hope he likes running the football and will keep pounding the rock until they beat the defense into submission. Win or lose I want the team we are playing against to know they are in for 60 minutes of hell.

I would pick Gruden on name only. He would kill it on the recruiting trail. If he can win a superbowl with grown ass men with ego issues he could surely mold a college kids mind to conform to his system for the betterment of them and the team. My sane side say go with peterson. He is proven. But can he achieve the same success at the sec level? Highly doubtful. Can he recruit to the level the sec demands? Who knows. It's one thing to best a quality opponent with 3 weeks to prepare, it's another to beat them with one week to prepare. Give me Gruden 6 days a week and twice on Saturday.

That's the only reason I would take him over a Patterson, Peterson, Gundy type.

My top 5 would be

1.) Gruden

2.) Pete Carrol

3.) Patterson

4.) Gundy

5.) shaw.

Over half that list we have 0% chance with. But here is to dreaming!

The only way I think we should make a change is with Chucky, he really showed is ability with the raiders, he had them back to winning and he left them a Super Bowl caliber! I watched a documentary on him, his work ethic is unreal!

Don't agree. Plenty of proven coaches out there would be a huge upgrade. IMO it isn't Gruden or bust. It's top notch proven coach or bust. I would take an interim for a year over another year of Dooley. It worked out for John smith and Arkansas. Oh wait....


Seriously though. The Vols will hire a HR. hope it's Gruden.
