Do you think Louisville sticks by Pitino this time? There's only so much bad press a university can endure before they get rid of the guy in charge. First it was the blind date in the bathroom, then the prostitutes and now this. He can only have so much plausible deniability before it becomes very obvious he knew or at least he should have known.

And Pearl has only himself to blame. Having a recruit at a BBQ is one thing, but having a guy working for you arrested by the FBI for paying off recruits is quite another. Maybe he should put out feelers for a broadcasting gig asap.

We're about to find out how scumbag some of these schools are.

And I'm sure ESPN/SEC Network would take him back. Or he could join Fat Donnie in the NBDL.

Not to quibble, but Pitino's blind date was on a restaurant table.

Louisville basketball get the death penalty?

"A UofL assistant coach acknowledged to defendants that since the university was on probation, they needed to keep it on down low WOW"

"It is important to note that many of the allegations against defendants/U of L are either on wire tap, video or from undercover FBI."

I wouldn't be surprised to see them double down on RP. That school only cares about winning...at any cost.

This is barely scratching the surface with the shadiness like this in college basketball. It's rampant and has been for a long time. It's a start, I guess.

That would be a terrible idea. I would fire him today and call the NCAA and say "See what we did today?"

I think Louisvilles grave was dug when the Asst coach said "you gotta be quiet about this cause we're in probation". If anyone deserves the death penalty, it's Louisville. That's worse than what SMU did. They only kept paying guys they promised before probation

A couple points of interest:

1. They said today that there's more to come and set up a phone # saying "you are better off calling us than having us come to you" or something to that effect. No telling how many programs are going to be implicated.

2. One of the alleged persons is the head of Global Marketing for Basketball at Addidas

3. Programs need to identify all the players that these coaches interacted with because if they play them and said player or his family received anything then those games will be forfeited and the program could face other issues.

This is going to be big.

Coming off a show cause, Pearl is probably done forever in coaching. He's going to have a tough time proving that he had nothing to do with this. I'm willing to bet he'll just resign and go back to broadcasting.

He's going to have to prove he had zero knowledge of all this.

Good luck with that.

This is Chuck Person's first college coaching job. There is no way he was doing this without the consent or even the direction of his head coach. I have been a Pearl apologist and I loved his years here. That was the golden age of Tennessee basketball but it's time to see him for what he is.

Is anyone of us really surprised by this?

I think the only surprise is that it took so long to be uncovered.

Uh oh.

http://www.gatorcountry.com/florida...da-gators-basketball-offers-charles-smith-iv/

It has been a busy past week for members of the 2019 recruiting class as college coaches could start contacting them on June 15th. 6’5 guard Charles Smith IV from LaLumiere(IN) has been very busy as college coaches from all over the country are contacting him. Smith caught up with GatorCountry.com to talk about his recruiting process and his recent offer from the Florida Gators.

Smith plays for Basketball University(TX) in the Adidas Gauntlet circuit. The team and Smith look to make noise during the July period.

“It’s early in the process but some of the teams recruiting me hard are Florida, California, Georgia Tech, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, Arizona, Purdue, UCLA, and USC.”

Uh. Oh.
