Shark Week!

Dude paddling in the kayak to get a better view is a moron.

yeah I get laugh out of those in these documentaries that try to prove that they wont attack/eat humans or humans are not prey.

My questions to the kayak dude would be...why didn't you just hang your arm over the side and splash it around instead of using the paddle? better yet why didn't you just jump in and pet them?

Dude in the water anywhere close to a shark is a moron.

Edit: Being in the water at the beach and seeing a shark less than 10 feet away and swimming toward me is the scariest thing I have ever experienced in my life. Best I could tell it was 5-6 feet long in the split second it took for me to see it and GTFO of the water. I can't imagine getting that close to Great Whites.

What was eerie is that dude was saying how there hadn't been an attack there, yada, yada, yada. Yet there was a fatal attack four days after his documentary.

My wife, being the astute woman she is, said it was most likely because he ticked the sharks off and they took it out on an innocent surfer.

I would have left a solid brown trail leaving the water.

lol...I'm surprised I didn't. I love being in the water, but after that I haven't been in the water at the beach more than a couple of times the past two summers.

Lol. I was stung by a jelly fish the same year as the shark. This past sumer, the wife and I were stuck in the middle of a "swarm" of migrating sting rays. The lifeguards were clearing the water and we were too slow. They were literally swimming all around us, bumping into out legs and over our feet. It was crazy.

When I was stung by a jelly I thought it was a shark biting my leg because it hurt so badly. I expected to look down and see a stump of a leg.

The gulf side of Florida isn't too exciting, i saw a bull shark once a few years ago but it was pretty far off.

i had a similar experience while jet skiing and snorkeling in mexico. i saw about 4 barracuda as long as my leg and i couldn't get back to the jet ski fast enough. i've been back to the ocean 4 or 5 times since, but i don't get in much past my waist anymore.

I've seen enough this week to finally realize to stay out of the water. I can't magine the feeling of being in the ocean and suddenly being bit by a shark.

I think the scariest shark was the oceanic white tip. I was watching the other day, and those things eat just a few times a month so basically everything is food.

There aren't too many shark attacks in California, last I can remember was an old man swimming alone a couple years ago in San Clemente or Laguna.

No way I would ever go for a morning swim by myself, I would be way to freaked out and I grew up around the ocean.

Dude getting his calf muscle bitten off last night was one of those "make your own leg hurt moments."
