The brother of the Iraqi journalist who threw his shoes at US President George W Bush has said that the reporter has been beaten in custody.

Muntadar al-Zaidi has allegedly suffered a broken arm, broken ribs and internal bleeding, his older brother, Dargham, told the BBC.
Moral of the story: Disrespect the USA, get your ass beat. :dance2:

He was also offered a bride and her dowery. He is perceived by most in his country as a cult hero.

Were they even there? That was truly pathetic.

Who's to know what could have been in those shoes. Athletes foot for crying out loud!:p

the tv network he worked for was an apologist for the Saddam Hussein regime, so the fact that the dirtbag is still alive and begging for a pardon should be all the evidence anybody needs that things in Iraq have improved dramatically.

That was the iraqi police who did that, almost guaranteed. Remember how Saddam treated his people, that's nothing.

Wow, all you in the "throwing shoe = beating or want death to this man" are acting like a bunch of animals. You have the same mindset as common criminals and terrorist regimes.

Throwing shoes at The President of The United States = Disrespecting our entire nation, and ALL of it's citizens.

Those of you who see this man as some sort of hero, must have the same, "death to America", mindset as the Islamic fanatics.

I would rather be a live "animal", than a dead "sheep".

Get over yourself. I'm talking about the fact that the secret service should have put a hole in him before the second shoe

Get over myself? Sorry if I'm a decent human that doesn't condemn someone to death over an incident that has caused harm only to the person throwing the shoes. This man isn't a hero, but he isn't an evil arab that you are painting him. Let him have his trial. I seriously doubt any of you would be up in arms if this happened to Obama.

Yes, he is an "evil Arab" (radical America hater).

I'll seriously bet you would screaming for his head if it had happened to Obama.

Again, it's about the lack of response from our Secret Service.

And the guy is a turf of an Arab. If he had done this to one of their idiotic mullahs, he'd be dead right now. Had he done this to Obama, I'd be equally incensed by our secret service response.

By the way, I find your emotional and touching response to us heartless bastards talking smack on a message board very impressive.

If you'd read the article this man's entire family was arrested under Saddam's regime and he's already been abducted by insurgents before. He obviously has his own personal perspective on the situation in his home country and doesn't view President Bush's attempt at liberation as something great. Should he have thrown his shoes? No. Does he deserve a beating or death for his actions? No. I didn't vote for Obama so I don't understand why you feel need to say your last comment. His punishment should fit his crime.

So he should have a shoe thrown back at him?

I'm not up to date on Iraq's current laws regarding attempted assault and disturbing the peace so I can't answer that question.
