I think most of us are wondering why his game is Jekyll-Hyde. He was playing terrible. Then boom, 27 points and best game of his career. Not too many get that kind of leash with Barnes. I’m sure you predicted though. You sure you wanna do this? How many 2nd half minutes for Plav, Awaka & Mashack? We still thinking Nkamhoua should be benched?
So…I’m right? You are not in your on shower, so quit tooting your own horn. Situational, Awaka played well in his minutes, deserved a little more time, imo
Aidoo hit the bench after that brick on a three, straight in Barnes doghouse. Uros was a bad matchup and he didn't help himself, running his mouth, 2 minutes after he entered the game and bricking FTs
Just to jar your memory, here is your post predicting Mashack and Awaka to not play. They both played last night. Not sure how you’re claiming you were right, but you keep being you!I feel like something to remember is that we’ve only had a full squad for what, 4 or 5 games? So people have been playing that maybe at full strength they wouldn’t have, here’s current mpg averages:
Santi 31.6
Zeigler 29.1
Phillips 25.9
Key 25.6
Nkamhoua 25.2
James 22.0
Aidoo 17.7
Mashack 16.9
Plavsic 15.3
Awaka 8.2
I think Mashack & Awaka are the first 2 candidates to see minutes dropped, not accounting for blowouts so guys getting pulled early I expect something like:
Zeigler 36
Santi 30
James 30
Phillips 30
Key 25
Nkamhoua 25
Aidoo 17
Plavsic 7
No I didn’t…Read these posts, I clarified multiple times (in posts you responded to so you saw them) that by rotation I don’t count a few minutes at the end of a half to avoid a late foul on someone a rotational player. Neither is 2-4 minutes. Going into last night Awaka, Mashack, Aidoo & Plav were all double digit guys, none got more than 7 minutes. Neither Plav or Awaka appeared in the 2nd half. You moved the goal posts as you said Mashack / Awaka would not play in post #8
Guess we’ll see if Awaka and Mashack are getting double digit minutes in a close game Saturday.
Well those 2 are part of the rotation, I don’t count a brief appeance to avoid a late half foul on someone as really playing a role. They both played double digit minutes tonight and that seemed to be your point, is that Barnes said 10 man rotation and they’ll all keep on playing, I’m calling BS.
So here’s my overall point, if you look at the last 4 years (non COVID), let’s take a look at the season rotations for each of those 4 teams that all went dancing. By rotation I’m talking similar to this years squad, so guys over 8mpg essentially playing every game, and then not playing more the 2-4 minutes.
I said it’s why he was getting the start when many didn’t get it, he has the highest ceiling on this years team, and Barnes has seen the flashes. He will have a quick leash because he has been inconsistent, but he will try and get that switch to come on.I think most of us are wondering why his game is Jekyll-Hyde. He was playing terrible. Then boom, 27 points and best game of his career. Not too many get that kind of leash with Barnes. I’m sure you predicted though.
So what you’re saying is due to matchups Barnes shortened the rotation last night?I think that last night was an outlier. Texas had a really good perimeter game, but a limited post presence. It was an opportunity for ON to dominate in the paint and he did. It makes no sense to sub him out when he is having a career game. Same with the perimeter defenders. When Key, ZZ, SV, JJJ, and JP are shutting them down, there’s no need to insert Mashack as well. If Texas’s offensive strength was big guards on both wings, then Mashack gets more minutes - possibly from Key’s total.

You made post #8 that clearly states Mashack / Awaka would not play. You then follow that up with other posts hedging your bet. That’s the definition of “moving the goalposts”.No I didn’t…Read these posts, I clarified multiple times (in posts you responded to so you saw them) that by rotation I don’t count a few minutes at the end of a half to avoid a late foul on someone a rotational player. Yes. I think that you’ve been saying to shorten the bench in every game down the stretch run. 7 or 8 players only. Barnes has said that everybody that does their job will have opportunities and also that he’d be going with the hot hand. If Texas had had a deep post presence then Uros, Aidoo, and Awaka would have had more minutes.
The Texas game was also a huge stage. One where your most experienced (and highly talented - JP) players are going to get the bulk of minutes. So again - Awaka, Mashack, and Aidoo had less floor time.
Bahahah, I literally nailed it damn near on the head, that seems to offend you. Maybe you’re just struggling seeing Uros planted on the bench and the guy you wanted benched going off, accept it and move on.You made post #8 that clearly states Mashack / Awaka would not play. I still enjoy your posts and the info and insights you bring to the discussion. It was a bold prediction saying those 2 guys wouldn’t play but you missed. Own it and move on as it really doesn’t matter.
Not at all, I was simply referring to close/competitive games, which is why I kept stating yesterdays game leading up to it because it was a big one. If we are smoking teams then absolutely you play 10 guys, rest up your Top 6 when you can, but in tight games heading into March Barnes will shorten the rotation, that’s all I’ve been saying.
Wow - you really can’t admit you missed a prediction even though it’s right there in black and white!Bahahah, I literally nailed it damn near on the head, that seems to offend you. Maybe you’re just struggling seeing Uros planted on the bench and the guy you wanted benched going off, accept it and move on.

Like I’ve said I don’t consider playing <5 minutes as a rotational player, but if you or others do that is fine, that’s just my definition is that I don’t and that’s what I was saying. Awaka & Mashack have both been getting double digit minutes, in competitive games going forward I don’t think that will often be the case, even if they get 3-4 minutes that’s still “shortening the rotation” which was my point.Obviously if a game is a blowout then the “rotation” should extend way down the bench. I consider the “rotation” to be the regulars that are utilized in the non-blowouts. So I think it is currently a 10 man rotation. Of the bottom 3 or 4, in some matchups a couple may be barely used. In others a couple of different from the 3 or 4 might be barely used. Some games 1 or 2 of the 10 could be sick and banged up and the minutes shift to others in the rotation.
You’re the one projecting as you’re trying to tell me what I meant because of 1 post while ignoring 4+ others that went along with it and cleared up exactly what my thoughts on the subject were. I literally asked you a point blank question in this thread and clearly named both Awaka & Mashack and stated <5 minutes, post #76.Wow - you really can’t admit you missed a prediction even though it’s right there in black and white!
No need to project something on to me as I clearly write what I think.
I’m all for this team’s success no matter which players rise up. Uros absolutely deserved to find the bench after the 4th missed free throw. You really can’t play in close games if you can’t make free throws unless you’re outstanding in other aspects of the game which Uros isn’t. However, I’d bet he sees his minutes go up against Florida’s Castleton.
Uros wasn’t needed as much yesterday with Texas’s perimeter oriented attack. He’s our counter to a really big, physical, in the paint opposing player. The opponents that would toss Aidoo around. Awaka should have elevated minutes in those types of matchups. Even ON might not be ideal in a really physical game where refs are allowing post players to get away with a lot of banging inside.
I would expect to see more of Aidoo if an opponent’s strength are perimeter players that attack the rim. Texas’s big 2 seemed to be more shooters than penetrates. Unless that was TN’s perimeter defense that was preventing them from slashing to the rim.
And as posted earlier, teams with highly productive wings draw more minutes from Mashack.
