Should Heupel have pushed to cover up Hooker’s injury?

All losses play a roll in the rankings.

That used to may have been true, but doesn't appear to be any longer. It's more of a "what have you done for me lately" mentality now. If losses really mattered a 2-loss LSU team would have not been ranked #5 before getting blown out by A&M. I am also sure that the committee is desperately hoping there is someway they can justify putting a 2-loss Bama team in the playoffs. Once a 2-loss team makes the playoffs the committee has lost all credibility.

If Hooker being out played a role in the rankings, should we have downplayed the injury and not given any specifics until after final CFP rankings? Could have just said “it’s a knee injury. We hope to get him back for post-season”. And left it at that.

Nope,
If you watched the replay, there was no hope for Hooker to return.

Wishing Hooker for a full recovery at the next level.

No.

No because we still would have had to play with Joe Milton.

So you want Tennessee vs Ohio State with Joe Milton QB?

Or Clemson, North Carolina, Tulane with Joe Milton at QB?

No.
A THOUSANDS TIMES NO...

You obviously have not looked at Milton's stats. Albeit is a smaller sample but his QB rating is 86, Hookers is 89. His completion % is 63%, Hookers is 69%. He has 7 TD's with no picks.

He isnt quite Hooker but he certainly isn't JG either. He doesnt suck......get on board now...he is the guy next year.

here is my whole problem IF the committee used Hookers injury as a reason to nick Tennessee in the rankings... How can you hold Hookers absence against Tennessee when placing them in the rankings which are the pecking order for the new years six bowl games and then put Alabama or Ohio State ahead of them without knowing if Bryce Young or CJ Stroud, or any other of their stars for that matter, will opt out of the bowl game. Tennessee with Joe Milton looks a whole lot better than Alabama with Jalen Milroe starting
