Should Heupel rotate QBs Spurrier style?

Spurrier was the only coach who i saw do it successfully.

I saw this because we have a huge NFL level talent on the bench in Milton who has been hitting his receivers in stride on deep routes like it's nothing so far this year.

Now hear me out please. I'm not saying to start Milton over Hooker..But Hooker has a mental problem with his throwing going on this year. Pretty much every pass is high and that's why Tilman got injured. Even short routes he is throwing it high. That's how we got into a 10-0 hole against Pitt as well.

If Hooker is over throwing recievers to open up against UF and we go a few three and outs, i say rotate Milton in there for a series of two. Hopefully this doesn't happen but i could actually see a QB rotation with these guys working out as they are such close friends in real life.

Next year.

WITF would you even ask this question? Hooker is a heisman candidate for god's sakes. He has done nothing other than destroy 2 teams by halftime and win a 3rd game on the road against a ranked opponent. Milton though looking impressive, but in perspective against the sisters of the poor whent he game is out of hand. He will be our starter next year but the better guy is playing right now!

I’m gonna tell you like I have told the rest of the people that thinks that Hooker got Tillman hurt. Hooker did not get him hurt, actually it was even a pass play when he got hurt. Go back and watch the 1st speed option where Sampson was tackled into his legs from behind whole Tillman was blocking. If you had seen that play you would have noticed right then that Tillman struggled to get to his feet and then limped off the field. That’s when the Initial happened. But to answer the rest. Hooker is our starter unless he gets hurt and he has rightfully earned that spot. Milton will get his chance to start next year.
I was going to post this

That's debatable imo but the fact remains that Hendon is consistently over throwing the ball every time. I'm amazed his stats look as good as they do because the eye test tells me he is off big time this year. It just shows you how good that he can really be when he is fully dialed in.
What was he, 14 of 18 last week?

I wouldn't mind having a few plays for Milton to come in and execute. He may be the best short yardage option we have. But to have him in the game to mix it up and have a 2 QB system makes no sense to me, especially onsidering it could knock us out of rythm for a qick moving offense..

Not gonna lie I noticed it the first game and the high throws have continued. Milton has looked good coming in with zero pressure while we have big leads but that has no bearing on how he would play in a game with pressure on him to make plays. He needs to stay on the bench and can prove himself should HH get injured. What does concern me is with all the QB gurus we have on the staff why this hasn't been corrected becuse at some point these are going to get a WR injured. He's also made a few throws that easily could have been picked off, seems to be deciding where to go with the ball pre snap at times. There have been some throws into the flats that could have easily been a pick six. Don't know what has happened but he looked much better last year than this year to this point, hope it gets back to normal this week.
We are 3-0 and hooker is playing very good just relax my goodness maybe not quite the level he ended last year with but we are 100% on redzone trips and top 3 in the nation in scoring like I’m not sure what more y’all want at this point… hooker will continue to Work and improve each week as will the entire team… just breath and enjoy that we finally got a really good AD and a head coach that knows what he is doing and building our Vols back up…

Yes, every time UT is leading by 5 touchdowns or more late in the 3rd quarter, and the other team starts substituting, CJH should rotate in the backup QB, etc.

Really? That would be like spraying a corn field in july with round up….not a good idea if success is what you are after

If we expect an SEC title, then he's going to have to get his accuracy issues together. He's been late a bunch. His high throws are a sign of a mechanics issue. He may be trying to be perfect, and aiming the ball. Who knows? But conference play will demand that he's better than he's been thus far. We'll see on Saturday..

Does any sane fan expect an SEC title this year?

I will hang up and listen.

I'm sorry, give me your email address and I'll run my personal concerns through you before posting. I think eventually he'll get a WR injured if he doesn't get it worked out and I'd be shocked if the coaches haven't already been discussing this with him. Never said he should be replaced just said it was concerning, at no point do I expect everyone to agree with my take.

UT has an experienced heavily tested QB in Hooker. This is a huge advantage. Milton when tested has failed. I consider that a scrimmage game last weekend, zero pressure and the runners 20 yards behind the defense. Yes, he did look sharp, but I would have to see him perform under pressure before even thinking about adding him to the lineup. Doesn't matter who the QB is, if the run game doesn't improve neither QB will look good.
Hooker looked pretty good vs Pitt. Honestly hookers looked pretty good all season…

So far Hooker is throwing 69.4%, has 6td’s and 0 int’s…..with 2 rushing TD’s. No doubt his stats “could” be much better if it weren’t for 2 blowouts. Last season Hooker had one of the best combination of stats in the country.

Why on earth “rotate” QB’s……..when your starting one of the best in the country?

Sure Milton has looked great so far in his limited role this season…….however he has only thrown 14 passes vs superiorly overmatched teams once they were all but defeated.

It “appears” Milton has progressed beyond what most thought he could/would. However his time will come next year unless something bad happens.

Rotating right now would be DUMB!

I propose the “we have to get Milton on the field” people and the “we can’t let Milton play another down because Ole Miss” people should meet at a Waffle House and settle this thing once and for all.
They are the same people! Over reaction on everything. It would take 1 bad play by him and they’ll all be wanting him run out of town again.

As much as my client would love to get more reps, why are we discussing taking Hooker out?

He is hitting 69% of his passes for over 800 yards and 5 TDs and has barely played in the 2nd half of 2 games.
