With all the "issues" we've had the last few years, is it time for Hamilton to get the axe?

It should be very seriously considered. If a solid list of available replacements can be made, then the decision is that much easier.

IMO, ya gotta wait till the 'AA concludes their investigation before making that decision.

I justed posted a thread a few minutes ago about this.

His tenure is getting worse by the day.

Goes past this latest mishap...the guy is proving to be a dope. This is just the tipping point for me, LOIC is apparent.

Oh, I agree with you. I mean, the man hired Todd Raleigh for goodness sake. I just think it would be a good idea to wait until it's known what penalties, if any, a new AD would have to deal with before trying to hire one.

The structure needs to be fixed first, or we'll be in the same situation in a short period of time.

I hate to say it, but yeah.

His only saving grace was hiring Pearl, and now that appears to have blown up in his face.

A University President is a must...until then, we might as well keep Hamilton here.

Raliegh was a horrible hire

So was giving Fulmer a raise and extension for getting 8 wins.

The handling of Fulmers "resignation" was muffed.

Raleigh has proved to be a bum.

Kiffin debacle.

Some will point towards Dooley hire, I'm still optimistic.

Honestly, college baseball is irrelevant. Any sport that SC can win a title in is pretty meaningless. If Hamilton gets fired, it will have NOTHING to do with baseball.

I agree with those as well....I just really hate that our baseball program can do so horrbile and he is still the coach. I actually like the Dooley hire

Yeah the thing that bothers me though is that all those bball coaches taking paycuts and Hamilton is Pearls boss and was Kiffins. What Im getting at is why doesnt he have to surrender some cash. If nothing else charity should soak up the money that UT isnt going to save on payroll. I just feel if Bruce loses $$$ so should Hammy because he is ultimately responsible for not policing it.

I will agree that baseball is not the money sport that football and basketball are, but as a baseball guy (and former college player) I really don't like your answer, lol.

Yeah, that's a novel idea, but we're in America- the land where no managers, directors, or presidents need to do anything morally justifiable.....

Hammy needs his leash shortened and he needs to be given an ultimatum where any future illegitimate activity results in his termination.

Who would be the one to give him this ultimatum? I guess that's the whole issue.

I don't mean to offend anyone. I sure wish I had a baseball scholarship right now, but college baseball obviously suffers greatly because the majority of the elite players don't go to college. Plus, as a fan those stupid aluminum bats annoy me. If they used wood it would probably be more enjoyable because you could actually get a good read on what kind of a pro prospect a guy is.

Why wait on the 'AA to conclude an investigation? The problem is that violations were committed on MH’s watch, this latest news along with the Kiffin debacle is what I feel he should be judged on, not what penalties we may or may not get.

Tennessee leads the world in embarrassing Sportscenter stories. Our football program is potentially at its lowest point in 30 years. Our basketball coach just got got off the stage after admitting he lied to the NCAA. Both football and basketball are being investigated. The athletic department is an embarrassment. Hamilton's got to go.

The structural problems may never be fixed. I don't think it matters. You don't wait to leave your cheating horrid hag of a wife until you get your car paid off and that big promotion finally comes through. You kick that bag to the curb and get your life fixed.

Oh, there was no offense taken, just giving ya a hard time. I can go either way on the wood v aluminum debate for a variety of reasons, but the sport does take a hit with the majority of the best players that age playing professionally.

But heading back to the original topic, Hamilton has been good for the department financially, but not so otherwise...

Like I said, this is certainly worthy of discussion. Really, it is more a matter of WHEN. Do you do it after the new governor is elected, or do you wait until a new president is found and settled in?

I don't disagree that he should be let go regardless of the NCAA findings, I just think it would be insanely difficult to find a good replacement with those questions in the air.
