Should parents be paid? Here's why people say it's time to see the value in caregiving

Just stop. The species will propagate just fine.

And your an idiot if you are having kids for the tax break.

I dunno. Remember we have 53 or so varieties now, and only two specific ones working together can make a baby. Seems like the other 51 are either not up physically/mentally to the challenge or are barking up the wrong trees.

Guess somebody will have to invent an app for that or the new generations are not going to be reproducing. The first clue is all the texting and no personal interaction in restaurants, etc. It's like cellphones may be the ultimate form of birth control.

I think it's just life in general now makes it much more comfortable and convenient to stay in your bubble.

6 kids in my family and no way could my parents afford us without the tax break. My 5 siblings:

Lawyer (partner at big firm)
Controller
Artist/teacher
Posh hairdresser and soon to be TV star
Financial analyst

Then they shouldn’t have had 6. Taxpayers shouldn’t subsidize your parents unprotected sex.

I agree. Technology can make it easier to face what was historically uncomfortable - like sitting and talking face to face with someone you don't really know or with whom you have little in common. You do generally learn with age, but those first steps as an adolescent in learning how to deal with the opposite sex were typically trying for most. If not for raging teen hormones, civilization might have died centuries ago. Maybe the new sexes just make it easier to avoid the other sex but with some "newly acceptable" form of intimacy as a substitute.

How do you guys want to solve the potential demographic winter we are facing? We need more young people, not fewer. Some of you fellas want to limit immigration, eliminate tax breaks for having kids, etc.
It's a legitimate problem. Fortunately we will have 15-20 years to watch how europe handles their own problem here. We are going to have to do something. China is super screwed.

You gotta be kidding with all of this, right? You think I'm worried about the survival of mankind? I'm talking the economy. We need young workers. Argue with me on that. Get on the record. Please make a fool of yourself.

You're an idiot if you don't know that people make decisions on the margin. Hopefully, nobody is saying "I will have a kid to get the tax break." but lots of people are saying, "We can afford 3 kids because of the tax break." It's an economy with nearly 400 million people and $2k-$3k per kid makes a big difference to a lot of them.

This is an all-time post, bro. Good job.
LOL

how is someone else getting a tax break them being selfish?

Seems like we consider it good planning when you bury your income in various tax free options. no great calls for corporations to pay taxes on their gross rather than their net. Consider this parents writing off their losses.

Both breaks are necessary for the economy. both can be parts of good planning. doesn't say anything about the person to make use of what's there.

And take mine along with keeping yours. THAT is selfish.

Keep it going. This is hilarious.

They're not sending your $ to me. I'm getting my money back. Can you explain how it's your $? If we shop at the same store and they refund a purchase, is that your $? Wtf

If I owe at the end of the year and the tax credit wipes that out (in other words, I never sent the $ to the .gov and they never sent it back) is that your $? It's the same thing.

I think everyone already knew but you definitely came out of the closet as a looney leftist today.

How is the guy that's against taxes ITT the looney leftist?

Some of you guys on the right are truly deranged. It's almost like you're double agents trying to ruin conservatism.

If anything, pay people to get "fixed" so they can't have children. Too many people on the planet as is.

What are you talking about?

That small cross section of women today that are really, when it comes down to it, on the take. They marry, have kids, beg to be a stay at home mom only to stick the kids in every Mom’s Day Out program five days a week so they can go have lunch with the girls, go to the gym and shop. I’m sure they would love one extra perk of cash from the .gov….just in case they want the extra Mimosa or dessert. Fortunately, I do see many hardworking, devoted moms, like mine was and as my wife was to our kids, that do it the right way. I just take exception with those that are a mom in name only, couldn’t give a s*** about actually rearing the child and then tell everyone how hard it is and how exhausted they are.

Right. And you put more burden on the infrastructure yet get refunds. I pay full price. Who's being subsidized again?
