Should U.S. Swap ‘Merchant of Death’ for Brittney Griner?

Putin wins. China Xiden shows weakness once again. But let’s get a even trade for someone that hates the USA for a arms dealer with foreigners blood on his hands.

Honestly, who gives a **** if Putin "wins"?

In America and in English law, we generally believe It is better that ten guilty persons escape than that one innocent suffer.

We traded an arms dealer for an innocent American. We beat Blackstone's ratio. And TBH, our government is full of people who are/were practicing in arms dealing (both above board and below), including people that you like and would defend. I don't feel like Americans in the US were ever in danger from this arms dealer. He's only a target to us because he was competition and a threat to our policing of the world, which I don't want us doing in the first place.

She might get you a double double but the world gets their supplier back for weapons. From Liberia to drug cartels.

as if Clay Travis wasn't already a national disgrace. what about what about what about what about what about what about what about

It's kind of funny because you could look at it the other way, instead of being afraid of it...more prisoner swapping could be a good thing.

And BG is high profile and she fetched a high-profile return.

If Putin just starts arresting foreigners for the sake of prisoner swaps, he's going to cut Russia and himself off from the world. He can do it, but it's not in his best interest.

She’s innocent in your eyes because “ muh it’s only weed dude”. Well, Russia has different laws. As a US citizen, we don’t get to carry our laws with us abroad.

Like I said earlier, had Trump did this you’d lose your mind. Because you sure as hell wouldn’t give him any credit for anything.

We swapped a terrorist, not a prisoner. Just so you know the difference

The desire to bring Whelan back is absolutely legitimate and should be a priority. But bashing Biden over this turn of events of getting someone else back as opposed to Whelan, which everyone knows is not entirely in his control, is petty, rings hollow, and reflects your lack of sophistication.

Innocent of wrongdoing. She didn't harm anybody. I figured you're a red-blooded American, IDK, but freedom and justice are two of our pillars, like it or not. You're looking for technicalities so that freedom and justice don't apply. You should move to Russia, bro. Seems like a better fit.

Just yesterday I gave credit to Trump for Gorsuch, some tax relief, and deregulation. So go sit in the corner with your BS. Also, I have not given Biden credit for this. Not even sure it was the right thing, but I do think what he did is defensible. Not sure what I would have done in his position.

The issue is using it as some magical moment. Just do it and move on

Yep, we even put flags on social media to show support. We also release competition that helps the remaining market.
If he's competition then is the us govt also terrorists? Can we call those buying our weapons terrorists as well?

And you'd be praising him.

As for me... I'd have let her rot and Whelan too.

The thing that bothers me is that on Twitter people are trying to turn this into a race thing..of course. The usual dipshits like Rex Chapman or Jemelle Hill are pretty much saying that people are upset because it’s a Black, lesbian celebrity who was freed and not the clean cut, white Marine. The problem is that this goes way beyond the “let’s cancel a Disney ride” or “change a pancake syrup bottle” level of world politics that these so called worldly people are able to comprehend. This is way beyond their little bubble of domestic SJW activism . No one GAF that BG is a black, lesbian, D list celebrity. They only want to see that what we gave is equal to what was returned. You can simultaneously be happy that a person who was going to face a much harsher punishment for a minimal crime has been released, while feeling that a precedent has been set that shouldn’t have been.
