Should U.S. Swap ‘Merchant of Death’ for Brittney Griner?

Here's a quote from BG: “I’m going to protest regardless,” she said. “I'm not going to be out there for the national anthem. If the league continues to want to play it, that's fine. It will be all season long, I'll not be out there. I feel like more are going to probably do the same thing. I can only speak for myself.”

Brittney Griner: National anthem has no place in WNBA, sports

This is the fine upstanding individual the US just traded for an arms dealer. Sounds like a fair trade to me.

Why is the National Anthem played at sporting events?

The Whelan angle to criticize Griner didn't take hold, so now you resort to the fallback that she is just another black protestor. And a lesbian, to boot.

What a glorious day this must be for you.

Why shouldn't we do it everywhere, all the time? Church should start with a pledge. Family dinner! Office meetings. Why not?
You know something, when I was a kid, we used to say the pledge of allegiance every day. My generation was full of patriots, F sticks like you don't deserve to live in this country because you suck.

A hell lot of sacrifice was made for our freedom, and the NA portrays that..Anybody even listen to the full words of the NA?
These protests just spit on our history, our founding.

This is nothing but social protest by people that think this nation was ill founded. ****ing pathetic.

Honestly, who gives a **** if Putin "wins"?

In America and in English law, we generally believe It is better that ten guilty persons escape than that one innocent suffer.

We traded an arms dealer for an innocent American. We beat Blackstone's ratio. And TBH, our government is full of people who are/were practicing in arms dealing (both above board and below), including people that you like and would defend. I don't feel like Americans in the US were ever in danger from this arms dealer. He's only a target to us because he was competition and a threat to our policing of the world, which I don't want us doing in the first place.

She should have kept her a$$ in America and wouldn’t have faced a harsh Russian law.only a fool would travel to Russia and try to sneak a banned substance inside.

Why shouldn't it be?

Because it isn't relevant. It's a sporting event, not a USA pep rally. Personally I can go without reciting nationalistic propaganda (which is what it is, not necessarily saying it's inherently bad) before every single sporting event I attend. But it doesn't stop me from going, in the same respect that players kneeling or not standing for the anthem also will not stop me from going. I don't care what people do or don't do during the anthem. I do think it isn't necessary aside from international events like the olympics.

People are literally mad that an American was set free from a Russian labor camp because that American doesnt meet their definition of what it means to be an American

Ironically it's actually them that's the most unamerican of all.

Looks like they achieved the desired affect on you with the daily American fajr prayer.

Innocent of wrongdoing. She didn't harm anybody. I figured you're a red-blooded American, IDK, but freedom and justice are two of our pillars, like it or not. You're looking for technicalities so that freedom and justice don't apply. You should move to Russia, bro. Seems like a better fit.

Just yesterday I gave credit to Trump for Gorsuch, some tax relief, and deregulation. So go sit in the corner with your BS. Also, I have not given Biden credit for this. Not even sure it was the right thing, but I do think what he did is defensible. Not sure what I would have done in his position.

She wasn’t arrested in America.

She wasn’t serving her sentence in an American prison.

This wasn’t under American law.

Why does the extreme left believe that she is being held in American prison?

That’s not why people have problems with this deal.

Reasonable. But I will counter with "does it hurt anything?"

There really isn't any harm in the anthem before an event and it really has only become an issue in recent years. Quite frankly, with bull-**** reasons behind it being an issue in my opinion. But it doesn't hurt anything for the 90 or so seconds it takes.

To me, I don't see it as a nationalistic "pep rally" and more of a part of our culture. It's something that just is.

I am proud when I hear the national Anthem. I love this nation and what it was built on and the historic opportunity is provides and reason why so many want to come here.
If some entitled spoiled ***** dont appreciate it then **** em. Bitches.

Me, too, its a very uplifting moment at any event and I always stand for it.

But that includes a right to decline to do so and if someone makes that choice it does not particularly bother me.

Yeah.

We all should be happy that a Russian weapon terrorist is free.

Putin is laughing at this trade.
